I phoned my local garage today to book a cambelt and water pump replacement to be quoted £440, using genuine parts, worst case scenario as there were 3 pumps to choose from (£70 pump).

This is more than I was anticipating as I've read people have it done in the region of 300-350. I've also seen Mr clutch have a set price of £275 and Audi £440, both minus pump.

Is this the going deal these days or does it sound overpriced? I will contact Mr clutch to see what parts they use

My car is an AGU 1.8T.

Thanks!

If your good with your hands you can do it for about £120 with pump genuine parts as well and I think they are very easy to do

i was quoted £365 to get it done at an audi specialist near mine. id give it a go myself if i was more confident but ill pass and let someone else do it who knows what there doing

Seems the most common figure I see is more around £350 mark. I've seen a vag specialist who ive used before have an offer of £349 belt & pump, further away but worth the travel.

I'm quite hands on, done susupension change and anti roll bars recently but dont fancy the belt!

Cheers guys

You can source a SKF or Contitech belt kit and OEM quality water pump for £100.

You could supply the parts and ring round for labour quotes. About a 3 hour job.

i recently had mine done
replaced

thermostat
cambelt kit ie tensioners
cambelt
water pump
oil (genuine vag)
oil filter (genuine vag)
coolant ( genuine vag)
petrol filter
pollen filter

and came all in fitted £400

Thats a bit pricey, i would say no more than £300 mate.

Whoever thinks a cambelt change is easy ..lol to you :p id rather stick my head in the radiator fan that would probably bea less painful experience lmao.

You not had a good experience doing one than

Quick bump for this, rather than starting a new thread...

I've been getting quotes similar to the above, so £300 to £420 for cambelt, aux and water pump.

Out of interest, what is everyone's experience with the double poly v-belt going and the tensioning pulleys needing changing? As both the aforementioned quotes are from the TTShop, but with some or all parts included;

Where was this at? Because that's a good price!!

Anybody been to the TT shop? Appear to be the most competitive by £100 in most cases.

i did mine myself at the weekend, cost about 100 for waterpump, cambelt kit, aux belt and coolant.
book time is 2.5hours for cambelt + waterpump or 2.2 for just the cambelt so haggle a nice cheap hourly rate.
