After some advice, is this worth doing on my diesel ?

It does smoke a little, more so in the lower gears under ambitious acceleration.

So, what's the general consensus?

Snake oil - it's never going to clean a gunked up egr and inlet manifold .

Had it done a few months ago.
Noticeably more throttle response.
Absolutely flew the emissions this year compared to previous years.

It's not a magic cure but for £40 it's I'd do as par if annual maintenance.

I was gonna do the egr valve and inlet manifold by stripping down and cleaning. Just thought that the engine clean would clean the valves etc

I took the manifold off and set it on fire with a load of petrol in it, also worth getting rid of the EGR, putting decent fuel in and maybe running a half decent addative every now and then.

I'll probably stick to addatives just down to the thought of putting none diesel specific stuff in a diesel.

What do you want an egr valve for anyway ? Belongs in the bin or blanked off .

Been adding 2 Stroke now for 4+ years .

I’ll probably end up with more problems than I have now if I start blocking pipes up etc..

Best way to clean the carbon away it is to remove the offending items and get them cleaned properly.

Get an EGR Delete kit and get it mapped out.....the worst thing they ever invented for a diesel, all those hot crappy exhaust fumes going back into the engine.

Mine runs so much better with 2T oil as it makes the diesel combust more efficiently.

1. 2-stoke burns better and more cleanly than diesel. This means more complete combustion of your diesel fuel.

2. Helps to initially clean out the engine internals, and keeps them clean.

3. Restores missing lubricants (and more) from low sulphur diesel.

4. The engine runs much more smoothly and is much quieter.

5. Significant reduction in smoke from exhaust (due to better combustion). Applicable for cars with no DPF

6. Keeps the DPF cleaner. (Semi Synthetic needs to be used)

7. Increases the life of the engine, including injectors, fuel pump, etc.

8. So much cheaper than all these additives that basically do the same thing.

As above but with a few refinements .

The 2 Stroke has to be mineral JASO FB spec , JASO FC is semi synthetic and FD synthetic .

Being mineral it burns more completely leaving less ash residue and contains dispersants , detergents and added lubricity .

Being a product that's added to petrol it burns like petrol , petrol ignites and burns too quickly ( higher octane petrol helps this ) so adding 2 Stroke to diesel speeds up diesel's too slow ignition delay ( cetane number ) that's why it's quieter as the delay ( diesel knock ) is reduced , tdi remapping does this with more precise fuel injection and timing hense a quieter smoother engine is observed .

I did see somewhere a cetane number improver test and 2 Stroke did improve even over some dedicated marketed cetane improvers .

Where can I get an egr delete kit from?
Also, anyone know where I can go to get this remapped out ?

What 2 stroke are you both using chaps?

10 Litre Diesel ---> 50 Ml.
20 Litre Diesel ---> 100 Ml
30 Litre Diesel ---> 150 Ml.
40 Litre Diesel ---> 200 Ml.
50 Litre Diesel ---> 250 Ml.
60 Litre Diesel ---> 300 Ml.
70 Litre Diesel ---> 350 Ml.
80 Litre Diesel ---> 400 Ml.
90 Litre Diesel ---> 450 Ml.

@jamiewatkins2004 this is the one I purchased CLICKY and it was a straight forward fit on my 2.0Tdi. If yours is a 1.9Tdi look on their eBay page as they do them for them also.

@Dani_B19 as Gaz has said above it's basically 5ml -> 1 litre.

I've used Carlube and Comma but I'm now using Westway 2T Blue Mineral Oil

Cheers for all the replies

Anyone know where I can get the egr mapped out in or around Warwickshire.

Also just to double check does my car have a DPF ?

2006 A4 Avant 2.0 diesel 140 BHP

In theory you shouldn't have a DPF on your car Jamie as it's only a 140. But there is always an exception to the rule as Audi apparently fitted them to certain cars as an optional upgrade.

As for the mapping in your area I can't help sorry.

Cheers @carlcall
Most mappers won’t just do egr map out, with one quoting me £295...
Looks like I’ll just replace the egr for now.
Gonna put some bg244 in the fuel tank as well to clean fuel injectors, valves etc.. should reduce the smoke a little.
Then I’ll use 2 stroke oil for future fuel fills just to stop I thinking up again.

Get someone for just beer tokens to map out just the egr in VCDS .

Thanks

If I do the delete then have to wait to get the egr turned off can I drive the car ? I presume it will be ok except for a error on the dash ?

What about Carista obd2 & app ? Will this turn the EGR off?

Got it sorted now
Stealth racing can do it for £75 + VAT which is by far the cheapest quote I’ve had.
Got the egr delete on order and manifold gasket..
Should have this done in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for your help lads

Been following the thread with interest.

@jamiewatkins2004, is it £75 for EGR delete and map out? Let us know how it goes and if it makes any difference which I am sure it will. Also, did you try 2-stroke?

Just the map out, £52 for delete
Not worries about performance just don’t want soot following me everywhere.
Not tried 2 stroke yet. Gonna give bg244 ago to clean out system, then will use 2 stroke.

Believe yours is a manual, isn’t it? Which engine if you don’t mind reminding me.

Why not Stage 1 and egr delete ?

Gaz; what does Stage 1 on a 2Tdi mean? For example; mine is a B7 2.0 Tdi, 140hp multitronic AND BRE with 68k on the clock. Good idea to remap? Can auto hold on to the power?

I’ve been told 175-180 bhp for the 140hp
