Changing Audio

Has anyone attempted changing the speakers for some alternatives that can give out alot more of a punch.

I'm on abit of a budget but hoping to get some bargains off eBay but due to my lack of knowledge, any ideas what kind of brand or wattage I should be after?

EDIT: Just done a search on the forums and found pleanty of results so this topic may be deleted if you like. Otherwise I'm still interested in hearing some your Audio/Speaker setup. Oh and did you keep the headunit stock Audi or change it.

Ok from the forum search this is what I've gathered:

• Standard speakers are 4” with 1” tweeter
• Adapters are available to fit 5.25” components but limitations is depth. Most people go with 5.25” + adapters
• Max depth if 54mm
• Require slim fits
• Will need adapters for better/bigger speakers no matter what from most are saying on AS forums

So in a nut shell, the choice is 4" components with new 1" tweeter, OR, 5.25 components which incorporate a tweeter. Am I right in saying that?
