I hate cleaning the interior of my car glass because not matter what products I try they always seem to end up with smears and seem as bads as they were before I started. Any advice or recommendations for products that work REALLY well. Thanks

I use Autoglym or H2Go (which I use on the outside )when cleaning my windows.
What have you tried?

I think the product you use to apply and wipe off the product is very important in not leaving smears behind. I got myself Bowdens naked glass spray and have a glass specific mitt which cleans up great. Crystal clear and no smears.

So many decent glass cleaners out there:

Angelwax Vision - one of the best IMHO
Stoner’s invisibles - pretty good and reasonable
Gyeon Q2 Glass - also good, just not as good as the above.

Also, key to use at least two microfibres, one to apply and initial wipe and 2nd for final wipe.

If glass is really dirty or has greasy surface, glass polish or clay bar or mitt great for getting rid

MR JAZZEY
@jassyo06 recommended I try a 50/50 mixture of Isopropyl alcohol and water in a spray bottle to clean the inside of my windows, I bought the alcohol off ebay and it works wonders ( £5.00), gets the window squeaky clean., and easy to use.
I agree though use a clean lint free/microfibre cloth yo wipe it off afterwards.

Lol interior glass cleaning one thing lve learnt is not to use a microfiber cloth use a dedicated glass cleaning cloth microfiber cloths leave tiny near invisible fibres on the glass and only become visible indirect sunlight ....also for the windscreen and rear screen use the dufler glass cleaning tool as l call it from Halfords https://www.googleadservices.com/pa...vbWywt73AhXVh1wKHZ2_DXwQwg8oAHoECAEQJg&adurl=

I use the Costco microfiber cloths & have never noticed any 'bits' on my glass. Rain-X 2 in 1 glass cleaner & polish gets my interior & exterior glass looking great with no streaks after buffing it off.

Can't fault Autoglym's glass polish. Apply with damp cloth and wipe of with dedicated microfibre cloth that's not contaminated with any other product.

I also love Rainex straight on the outside- LOVE the way water runs upbank on the screen and you don't need wipers when moving at minimal speed , but only reluctantly use the wipers as they soon make a mess of it, - you can guarantee wifey will use wipers even when screen dry is a drawback!

I've had great results with autoglym fast glass, spray on and wipe of with a decent microfiber cloth. No streaks or marks afterwards.

I think the key is to use 2 specialised glass cloths. Once to wipe with the product and another to remove. Another tip that works for me is to only wipe the product cloth in one direction, otherwise you end up spreading the dirt you've just removed back onto the clean area.
this may help

My windows have dried watermarks on them that I can't clean off with glass cleaner, what might remove them?

Glass polish it's slightly more abrasive than glass cleaner apply with a damp cloth let it cure/dry and buff off with a dry cloth as always a little goes along way

Thankyou for the information, I'll see if I can find some. I'll try pure alcohol first and if that doesn't work I'll get glass polish.

Cheers!

I have a similar streak issue on the outside of my Amarok screen. I've tried brake cleaner then a vigorous glass polish but there are still a few stubborn marks. I'll try a glass cleaner if I can find something really strong, wonder if a concentrate screen wash might sort it.

If the alcohol doesn't work I'm going to order some autoglym car glass polish and give it a go. It looks terrible when you finish cleaning your car and all you can see are grimey water marks all over the windows.

Have you tried vinegar? Perhaps a mild acid will remove the streaks?
My mum actually mentioned using vinegar when I told her about the marks, I might give that a go too. I'll try anything to get rid of them.

Mum always knows best - I've tried Isopropyl and Autoglym, both great.

Got to get me a dedicated glass cloth though! So satisfying for my OCD :salute:

I just use microfibre cloths I got off ebay, OCD is what makes me want these marks off the windows haha. It just eats at you when you've cleaned the car and all you see is ugly water marks after all your hard work. I will be receiving my polish in the post this week.

Okay so I've tried 100% isopropyl alcohol vinegar and auto glym glass polish and the watermarks are still there, they didn't even lighten. I might try a clay bar next.

Tried the claybar with detailing spray and still no difference unfortunately. I learnt a lesson not to use the clay bar with the auto glym polish too lol, what a sticky mess I had to clean up. It melted the clay bar, lucky I only used a small piece of the bar and only tried on the small rear quarter glass. I have no idea how to get rid of these watermarks.

Try bar keepers friend (powder version) mix to a paste and then use a non scratch scourer or 0000 woolwire and see how that goes. Do not get stuff on rubber etc and wash off straight after.

I got some 0000 steel wool to try as a last resort, I'll try it with the polish and see how it goes.

My current best practice, subject to revision, is to start with a thorough dry-clean for bulk removal. Rub vigorously with your preference of towel, except paper. I prefer larger ones, even a small bath towel. This reduces the load on whatever fluid you use next and thus reduces streaking. Then proceed with the above advice in other responses. Daily maintenance to address incremental contamination can be handled with something like this: https://a.co/d/84vDeXF.

It's a pretty effective approach.

(I see tcardio posted similar advice earlier here: https://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/cleaning-interior-of-glass.433871/post-3786888, though I didn't include the degreasing step with magic-eraser. I'll try that.)

I just use any glass cleaner but use only clean tissue or blue roll. Get a big hand of tissue, spray a few squirts od cleaner then rub of all the dirt whilst it still wet/ moist go right into the edges the soon as you covered it all in quick time flick out the tissue and scrunch up with a clean dry part lightly and quickly buff the glass. Youll build up a bit of heat in the process which help eliminate streaks.
The trick is the that tissue is always clean!
