Howdy all!

I have been experiencing a few issues with my clutch lately and over the last week or so the symptoms have worsened.
When I press the clutch pedal (normally in reverse and lower gears), and then begin to release the clutch, the clutch 'bites' as soon as the clutch looses contact with the floor.
It feels like the clutch is either sticking somewhere or not properly disengaging.

I also get issues with the gears grinding at times, and a audible 'knock' sometime when engaging second.

It is also worth noting that i have had a recondition on the gearbox, plus new OEM clutch, DMF and and master cylinder.

The garage thinks that the gear crunching could just be due to the quality of oil currently in the gearbox (changing this weekend), however, they are not sure about the clutch sticking..

Ideas anyone?

Hi there. Worth remembering to please post your car details, model, year, engine size, quattro etc.... when asking for advice.

If you've just had a reconditioned gearbox, new clutch, DMF and master cylinder fitted by a garage then any problems you're having should be sorted by them as long as they supplied and fitted it all? Surely a recondition gearbox would of been filled with the proper oil too?

Hope you get it sorted.

Apologies! It's a 2005 2.0 TDi, manual 6 speed.

It was filled with a standard gearbox oil that meets the requirements set by VW/Audi, but the garage have offered to replace the oil with Audi supplied stuff.

The issue is more that they no not know what the issue is, it could be a faulty clutch from what my limited knowledge covers?

Does anyone have any ideas?
I am getting more regular knocking sounds now when pulling away in 1st and reverse and changing up to 2nd.

The rear mounting bolt (connecting the engine to the dogbone mount) sheared 2 weekends ago and was helicoiled and replaced. Could this be the issue, or related? I don't particularly want my engine dropping again!

Assuming all that works been done by the same garage recently, take it back and politely but firmly insist they resolve the problems. If not try another garage. If you mention whereabouts in the country you are maybe someone can recommend a reliable garage near you who are VAG specialists. If your near the south east, i would recommend AMD Essex in Thurrock.

Not sure the forum can help that much as your symptoms sound fairly unique and possible due to bad fitting, bad replacement parts or damage done when the mounting bolt failed??

Hope the advice helps and do update the thread with anything you find out as could always help someone else out in the future.
