With the bonnet open, look on the left hand side, you will see the exhaust manifold, turbo and cat. Start the engine and see if there is any noise from that area, this will start to narrow down your search.
just me thinking, wouldnt it be on the right since the sparks are on the left? or is it under the sparks?
I hear numerous things wrong.
First it has a horrible miss so id check plugs and coil packs as they renowned for popping coil packs unless they on the latest revision then they not so bad.
Whats the mileage on the vehicle?
That second video sounds like your timing chain and tensioner.
Also what oil is the vehicle running on ? what year is the vehicle and lastly when last was the cam follwer changed or checked?
coils were fresh install about a month ago to the new revised ones by audi in Salisbury. and at the same time they reported the cam chain tensioner was fine. how ever is that different to the timming tensioner?
nearly 190k
car as stated on the video title is a b7 (2006) and its had fresh oil put in but no idea what type.
"horrible miss so id check plugs and coil packs " i have the vcds would this see if its missing? and how do you tell when it is missing
Thanks for all your responses.Listening to those videos you have posted..
The first one for sure sounds like the chain and tensioner possibly cam follower.
The second video of the buzzing noise or zing noise is normal so thats nothing to worry about.
Thanks for all your responses.
So what is the rattle snake tail sound?i know you said its normal but ut would be interesting to know what it is.
Also what is the ling beep after the engine is turned off
Hi;it was my original comments that stated the rattle snake tail sound. And i was reffering more to the 1st and 2nd clip ie when i press the throttle and let go,always sounds like it comes from the bottom where the camera was.this sound also happenes even with the slightest blip of the throttle.Im not to sure as to what you asking. As I said the noise from the second video is normal. Aka when you turn off the vehicle you hearing the long beep noise as you call it. = Its is just related to the electronics as well as the the direct injection.
As to the rattle snake tail sound not sure when I used that analogy let along said its normal. If i were to guess you referring to the first video of the 2 recently posted videos which again the "rattle snake tail sound" is the chain and tensioner in the back because of the slack in the chain its causing slap and you are hearing multiple frequencies of noise from the chain, tensioner, cam follower etc as its all in the same housing which would be causing the snake tail rattle sound.
hopefully that helps
