Compressor solenoid valve fault help

I have a 2005 a4 and the air con has stopped working I've been to get it re gased and that's not the problem.
Fault code says: 01232
- variable A/C compressor solenoid valve
- short circuit to positive or open circuit
- permanent

Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Best advice here, if you're not handy with auto-electrical, would be to have the compressor solenoid circuit integrity checked (to locate wiring fault) plus function check on solenoid. If you have VCDS and are confident with auto-electrical stuff, I'll gladly help with test steps.
