I have the above in my b6 but the CD keeps throwing error up, sometimes it will play but mostly not, if i get another unit is it a simple swap job or any coding needed .

Should be a simple swap but you will need the security code for the new unit you are fitting as they are tied to the chassis number and it will ask for it when the unit realizes it has been fitted into a different car assuming that is you are planning on putting in another Concert unit. On another point you can get an adapter which gives you an aux (3.5mm jack) that will plug into the CD changer point on your unit that will allow you to use an Ipod etc. I bought one of Ebay for £15 very easy to fit and works extremely well. Once fitted you just press the CD select button to use the aux as the source. Having fitted this I no longer use the CD player.

Get the Aux adapter, much cheaper!
2nd hand concert units can run up to £100 for a decent one! and you might get the same problem 6 months later

Thanks for the replies, all that techie info is way over my head, is there a replacement head unit that will fit straight in with no mods that takes an SD card or USB stick & Bluetooth for the phone

Assuming we are talking about replacing a single din Concert unit and it is not a BOSE (normally identified by the speaker grill badge) or similar system pretty much any stereo will work, you will need a fascia adapter/trim plate

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-A4-Panel-Plate-Fascia-Facia-Trim-Surround-Adaptor-Car-Stereo-Radio-/250790289905?fits=Car+Make:Audi|Model:A4&hash=item3a644421f1:g:xqYAAOSw-zxWn8Wt

and maybe a harness adapter, that said anything along these lines will work

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/...earch&storeId=10001&catalogId=10151&langId=-1

One thing to be careful off is the way the Audi is wired for the stereo to carry on running when you turn the key off means that if you do not use a good quality harness adapter it will cause the central locking to stop working. Also regards the wiring again there is something in the back of my head about diagnostic equipment and aftermarket radio - search the Ross Tech site regards this problem

Audi audio is notoriously annoying, rear speakers and front speakers might be wired differently, and BOSE systems are even worse. You'll end up attacking lots of different wires. I'd contact halfords or a local audio specialist and ask for an all in price including fitting, might be a bit more costly but they'll have experience of what works etc and if anything goes wrong you've got someone to complain too.

As I said use a good wiring harness adapter - I:E Bose will require something like this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-A4-A...081166?hash=item257de7018e:g:vhAAAOSwTA9X4STe
There are adapters for just about every Audi setup for £15 or less, standard setups will not cause problems with the speakers but you have to be aware of the way the power is wired - the Concert system will stay on with the ignition turned off but the key still in the lock if you connect the aftermarket unit straight to the Audi harness it will work but there is every chance the central locking will stop working and the new unit will not power down when the key is turned off. Take a look at this video starting at 8 min 16 sec dealing with the wiring.
It may seem complicated but so long as you identify which adapter/s you need it is a straight forward plug and play

On another note regards CD's - copied ones CDR and CDRW although the Concert (and others) will play them they are not designed to. They cause a strain on the laser by reflecting to much light which in turn leads to the laser head burning out. The first sign of this is CD misreads. If you want to protect your unit and use a lot of copies I would recommend fitting the aux input as above and play your music through an MP3 player.

Hi not sure how this site works
But here goes I have an Audi A4 convertible on a 2003 /53 I have been told it has a amp
In the car ,also been told its behind the rear panel in the boot of the car . when I brought it there was no stereo head unit in the car so I have put
One in , the only speakers that seem to work are the ones on top of the dash ?
Can someone help me with this issue
It seem once the wires have been cut from
The old stereo head unit , the amp shuts down ... I have tried all the wires what are coming out from the front of the dash
None of them seem to work . Can you chase
From the amp wires back to the head unit
To make the the 2 (L )front and rear speakers work / and the 2 ( R) front & Rear speaker
Or maybe the wire that has been cut from the
Old stereo is the remote amp off and on switch wire .

If any ones has any good ideas
That would be most helpful,
Thanks Paul
