Coolant Temp Sensor

My folks have a '98 A6 1.8T which they had problems starting the other morning. They eventually got it going (basically left it a few hours) and at the first opportunity I hooked up the VAG-COM which came up with a "Coolant Temperature Sensor - G62" problem.

I noticed someone had a similar problem on the A4 forum and replaced the sensor, but can anyone tell me the location of this sensor.
