Today I swapped my wheels over and put the winter tyres on.

I knew my rear tyres were getting low, but noticed the tyres are cracked (see other post) so I thought I would give the wheels a really good clean, cleaned the first 3 no problem, came to the last one and the first thing I notice is it's been repaired, and not very well. The rim bas a bulge in it where it looks like it's been filled, then I notice in the same area a crack in the spoke.

I could cry, it was the wheels that sealed the deal for me. So I now need 2 new tyres and a new wheel.

What are my options? The wheels are 18" Black Edition

Phil 😢

Ebay probably Phil to pick up a single rim, probably the cheapest aswell... I had 2 cracked rims on my old 2.0tfsi... Winter brings potholes, part and part of the deal... If its been a bad repair, you could always try getting it repaired properly, but if like me! I'd like to have piece of mind with rims thats not been repaired...

Thanks. The problem with EBay is I might get a wheel that's just the same. I'm happy to get it repaired if it's going to be a very good job. I have no experience of this.

Can anyone recommend a company that could do this in the Harrogate, York, Leeds/Bradford area?

But Phil... The ad should clearly say that its not been repaired though... If you receive it and its has, you just start your claim procedure through paypal... I've bought a fair few ammount of wheels through ebay and never had an issue... Infact I just got my Rotors from there and all was ok...

Just done a quick search and found one.
I have also spoken to a friend and he said try suing the council, we have a lot of pot holes on our road, don't know if this is possible or not.

You can put a claim in mate... You have to go take pictures of the particular pothole that caused it, with some sort of depth gauge and it takes months to get anything out of them... They do pay out eventually tho, that was with Glasgow council tho, it might be different from different areas...

The ad should state its condition in full.. i.e refurbished, new, used, repaired etc...

It's worth a try claiming off the council, but don't be surprised if they deny liability. After two years trying to get an explanation why Leeds city council turned my claim down, they said they had evidence of there being regular inspections and no pothole was ever identified. They said they are only liable if they don't repair a pothole picked up during one of their inspections, or reported by a member of the public. So basically the fact the pothole existed and was later repaired after I'd brought it to their attention in my claim, was not enough. They said, they cannot be held liable for something they are not aware of.

My dad managed to get a claim from LCC over a cracked alloy; they said if they aint aware of the pothole they will pay and then repair the hole...

Back to repair, Alloy Wheel Specalists in Garforth are really good, but dont know if they could colour match the single alloy. I took my old ST alloys there one required welding and they were all curbed, came back imaculate! And withstood the general nocks from hitting more potholes (y)

The Wheel Specialists in Garforth are the only people I'd let touch my alloy wheels, always done a great job and they even reassembled my Polo split rims for me :)

I have gotten many single RS 6 alloys from ebay and they have been fine and still are. Like the above posts they will state if new or used and if its untoward, there is a claims procedure fore misselling etc.

As for potholes...if you hit one and it destroys the wheel/tyre take a picture of it, with a complaint letter to council and copy of repair bill and they should pay up.

Thanks.
I'm still looking for a replacement wheel or a very good repair.

The pot holes around me are terrible.

Are they RS 4 genuine/replica alloys on your car? you should be unindated with choices on ebay for those alloys if they are standard colours...graphite/polished etc etc. Just call around and ask if they do singles instead of as a 4 set.

They are genuine RS4 and yes standard colour Black edition.

Did did have a look on the Bay but couldn't find any, might need to widen my search.

Thanks

Update.
I have been told about a local company that specialises in Alloy wheel reverbs and have done Ferrari's Etc.

Spoken to them today and been quoted £60 to £80

Will let you know how it goes.
