Daft question - do I have to get dealer service to stop notifications?

So I've had my B8.5 for about a year, and for the first service it needed after I bought it I got a dealer service. I don't have a stamp book, it's all done through Audi's system, and I remember the car alerted me about a service being required every time I got in.

So my question is can I get it serviced at an indy or will the car have no idea that its been serviced and continue to beep at me forever? I'm assuming that the garage will have to have access to VAG in order to reset it.

Also, do dealers still price match? A link has been posted to a price match scheme on here a few times but seems to be dead now.

Can use anyone you like, if it's got a warranty then it needs a garage to do so they can maintain the upkeep history so to speak.

Service indicator can be reset by most decent garages.

That's interesting, is that true for the B8.5? Someone has told me that only the dealers can reset service indicators. Can't remember who though.

With the right dish tools, yes other garages can reset.

VCDS can reset the service indicator in car. A good Vag independent with ODIS can reset and update digital service history.
I have a b8.5 and I had it serviced with Audi until just after 3rd year. Car was outside warranty by 3 months and they refused to replace or add goodwill to a faulty rear brake caliper motor. From then on I used an independent on car who updated digital service history.

I use Audi indie and they reset service indicator. Don’t see the point in the online service book. I have reams of invoices for all work done. I get the oil changed every 10,000 instead of variable anyway.

My garage which isn't an audi specialist resets mine every service, so as has been said any decent garage will do it.

Most reputable independant garages these days have the tools to update the local service record in the car and the central manufacturers database. If it's just a simple service light reset on an earlier model, this can be done with basic and cheap to buy OBD tools that are readily available to anyone.

You can also reset the service alert with Carista.
I can actually reset mine within the car settings itself with no tools needed.
