Dash Cam

Has anyone fitted a Dash Cam to their 8V, and if so, what type did you go for and how did you hide the cable?

I'm contemplating it purely for my own safety, rather than Youtube!

I've just taken delivery of the Mini 0805 from the guys at Car Camera Shop. Great service and fast delivery.

I intend on wiring it through the roof lining, down the passenger A pillar and use the glove box light as a power source.

The camera itself is small enough to be fixed on the windscreen, behind the rear view mirror.

For the front I fuse tapped into the cigarette lighter fuse (20amp) with a 5amp fuse as the female cigarette socket can only take up to 5amp.
Then I plugged in Dual USB In Car Charger to run both my Mobius and tomtom Sat nav (for speed cameras).

For the rear I used a money clip and used electrical tape to wrap the camera around it, then clipped it onto the rear headliner, and ran the cable to the rear boot 12v socket.


Easy once you have all the tools.

The factory fitted upper part of plastic trunking on the rear view mirror easily clips off so you can run your cable up in there to the roof lining. That's what I did with my Silent Witness

Just had a look and haven't got a clue how to unclip that, the cable isn't in the way so I'm happy with it as it is

I like this install. It just needs some Matt black tape or paint on the money clip.

I will be doing this when I eventually get my saloon

Just squeeze the bottom of the top portion where it meets the base and gently pull! It already routes a cable for the sensors in there!

I have Garmin dash cam 20 it's great and I just have wire down from pardon. I like the fact people can see it as I think they are driving better around me.

I have this camera and it's fantastic! Very discreet and the picture quality is top notch. Plus the cheap price is a big bonus.

Great idea to have a cam, at least if you hit someone they can't turn around and say it was your fault because you were driving too fast!!!
