Data plug into obd port

I am getting a 2020 A3 delivered on Wednesday, and I just received an email from the Audi dealer showing me how to use the data plug that goes into the obd port.
I have not heard anything before about this. It looks like it will always stay plugged into the obd port to use the Audi Connect plug and play app.
