Dealer prices for new timing belt

My car will be at the 5year mark come Nov. I’m curious about options too, that sounds quite steep, and without the water pump too !

What model is this for ?
I have a 1.4 Tfsi COD which will need one in 6 months as it’s 5 years old. So just interested.

@lgooch just had my 1.4 Cod timing belt changed as part of 6 year big service and the breakdown cost for timing belt part at indie in North Herts was
Timing belt and Auxiliary belt changed, £540 plus Vat.
The Audi timing belt kit was £119.20 and the aux belt £25 included in that price but all plus Vat so £648 all in for that part.
Also had all filters and brake fluid change and the service, plus all belts, kits and other parts plus vat cost all in £920.89

Interesting, half the cost, so you think £270 would have been a more reasonable price, take off the OEM parts off and you would have £125 labour left.
Surely your not saying that is a fair cost for any garage to charge? Have you had it done for that price or is that what you would want to pay?
I can recommend Richard Martin Automotive Solutions in Peterlee. I was travelling from Dorset to leave my car with Richard. He has really good prices and uses genuine VAG parts.

Albeit a couple of years back, I had the timing belt kit AND a water pump fitted for just over £500 inc VAT. The water pump was £80-odd plus VAT on it's own, so taking that into account, plus the labour to fit it, we're talking around £300 for the timing belt kit.
Belts don't need changing at 5 years, thats Audi UK Marketing teams 'suggestion' to raise their profits.

I still facepalming and sometimes little bit crying how so many naive ppl STILL believe there are some ''oem'' parts aaah well ... you been brainwashed by the title of the or the invention of the parts to satisfy you to trick you to thinking you have parts from ''oem'' but in reality everything is made in china. the problem is dat ppl outside china so in Europe or USA thinks oem are best becuse they know parts from china are sh!t. But what you don't realise is that, the all parts are made in china BUT in many levels of quality. And you obviously tried (like millions of ppl outside china) to buy the cheapest as possible items from china, no wonder tey gonna be sh!T.

Audi driver , I use OEM parts because the car was still under warranty which probs wouldn't be with parts from Ali express, lets agree that you stick with your type of car servicing and and I will stick with mine.

Neil, you say a couple of years back you paid £500, I wish i could get that cheap, I had my B8 A4 done in 2013 and it cost me £679.11 Our 8P A3 2 lt FSI in 2009 at just over £400 with the water pump and £540 again in 2013. Not sure where you live but obviously cheaper than where I am. Least you used to get the water pump labour included and done for parts only but not now its on the other side of the engine.

Have you looked at the Audi fixed price servicing? Think it was £500 a while back dir timing belt job all inclusive.

Thanks Aisbee for the post of recent prices, so it looks like I did get it slightly under the Audi price of £575 which with VAT is £690 against my £648 inclusive. Its good to know but the main point for me has been the decline in Audi service quality over the years so even if I had to pay the same price at the independent I would, as they are really reliable and beat our local Audi hands down.
Likewise on that, my localish indy is only around £30 cheaper than my local Audi dealer, but I would much rather send it to them than a dealership. Not only because of Audi UK's increasing poor service quality but also their aftercare/customer services is generally, diabolical.
I had my campbell replaced on my 1.4 COD by Audi Exeter in August 2019. Cost was £575 (so exactly as our the price list above) but they also included free MOTs for however long I owned the car. As I don't plan to change it, seemed a good deal.
I think that price includes vat but you are right, some dealers are waste of space when it comes to servicing, I’m happy to pay the going rate if the service reflects that. My current local dealer has been good to deal with and service is really good. The techs seems to know what they are doing and happy to help with some of my warranty issues rather than spin the usual it’s a characteristic of the car.

That's exactly the point, isn't it?! If you buy "OEM", from VW or Audi, or whoever, you are getting parts made under strict rules and many quality inspections.
If you buy parts elsewhere, you might be getting exactly the same part from the same factory for less money. You might be getting something just as good for less money. Or you might be getting some rubbish which doesn't work properly, hasn't gone through any quality inspections, and damages other parts of your car.
I totally get why people choose to buy cheaper parts, but I don't get why you would be crying, facepalming, and thinking people naive for buying elsewhere, when you yourself have pointed out that those people are not necessarily getting parts made to the same strict rules and quality inspections... Personally, I generally choose to pay more for those rules and inspections and the peace of mind they bring.

Audi Newcastle quote me the same which is ridiculous, i use a Audi specialist called Tyneside Autohaus. They are based in Newburn only use oem parts and have access to audi’s online service history system
they have quoted my £400 all in using audi parts

thought that once before when a dealership quoted me £1017 to change the timing belt on my Megane RS 250.
