I thought I'd start a thread as this one is staying a few years and it's inevitable I'll tweak stuff.

In the absence of a 'readers rides' section i thought i'd post in here as I read this forum more than the RS4 one and that doesn't seem to have any build posts anyway.

First up was a proper detail:

Paint:
Autoclense snow foam
Zymol clay
Auto glym polish
Zymol hd clense
Zaino polish
Maguires glaze
P222 wax

Inside:
Auto glym fast glass
Gliptone leather cleaner and conditioner

This was after a 300 mile trip to Wales:

Here's a funny one, OEM LED footwell vs. Trups LED:

Another one I didn't like was the odd calipers front vs. rear. Sorted that with the RS6 plates from stoke audi and some drilling:

Stunning car Deano, leds make such a difference.

If you haven't done this already, remove the plastic key from the glove box, it's better kept out of sight in your house, IMO.

A bit of coding tonight.

- remove error caused by reverse LEDs
- add hidden menu
- release parking brake without the foot brake
- make DRL's 100% with dipped beam
- remove stupid key warning
- CD ripping

Things i cant get working so will go to round 2:

- Chirp on lock and unlock
- 5 blinks on the indicator not 3
- alarm zero delay instead of 15 seconds
- shut the boot with the key
- Winking drl's on turn signal
- interior light control - i see the background light option but it is greyed out

You may find some of that in the menu on the dash rather than coding itself

I got the chirps to work - needed to activate separately from yhe lock and unlock.

Added the autobahn lights

Figured dimming drl's on indication is impossible if you chabge the brightness when the headlights are on

Sorted the interior lighting - there is a 3rd hidden menu change on the face lift 8Ks

Just need to figure the boot and the 5 blinks not 3 change now

Another little tweak. I plugged the vacuum input for the exhaust valve actuators.

I'm much happier. It's sounds as it should now all the time. In order of noticeable difference:

- Rumble on let off and the up and down shift farts and blips between roughly 1k and 4k are much more noticeable

- exhaust noise on acceleration between 1k and 4k. Again quitedifferent - much deeper

- smoothness between 1k and 4k. Slight but definitely noticeable

There is a slight drone in D7 under load below 50mph but to be honest it's still less than what i expected this car to make in quiet mode. Have the stereo on over 10 and you can't hear it at all.

I was going to use a bolt but i found this random thing in the same drawer as the zipties and it was a nicer fit.

Another thing i noticed was having the rear seats folded down (which i did on my return leg) makes the exhaust much louder in the cabin.

Another thing off the list and i'm proud of this one. I had a few door rattles which drive me mental. After the standard tactic of prodding various bits until it stops i narrowed it down to the trim around the B&O tweeter near the wing mirror. The whole trim in that area is quite loose but the issue is the contact between the hard plastic triangle outer trim and the hard plastic just beneath the door card.

I tried padding out this area but it would just vibrate into the door over time.

I found an easier way.

1 - find some dense foam. I cut up a paint roller:

6b6edcb8d33e5ed2f4f2eeab3433173e.jpg

2 - Insert some here which pulls this bit of trim forward a mm or so and stops the movement:

ebfe41ac59c7de43ff3f1c5cdb4df06c.jpg

You can just about see it in there:

2084d97a309682453c23362301430ac5.jpg

Now you have a tiny gap in the trouble area and no movement:

Agree......
I found that on my 2016 A5. A extra step in the green hidden menu.

@DeanoC B8.5 looks really good, noticed your other threads elsewhere. I am trying to get the light pack sipplied, did the ones you get dim? I have the dimming ambient light setting in the MMI as like to dim them to zero when on long journeys at night, but otherwise have them slightly illuminated during normal journeys and they will be on full brightness when exiting and entering the car.

Did anyone get the "close boot from key" activated because when I looked into this it wasn;t possible on the B8.5 only on the A/S/RS6 as it requires hardware. HHA memory should have been sorted 2014 onwards too.

Yes the lights dim as they should.

You're right the boot close with the key is not something you can code. You can get a module that will do it though.

Now i've lived with it i kinda like the HHD assist not defaulting. Mine is a 14 but i think it changed late in 2014.

Cheers, will get a set of the lights ordered. Do you know who sells the boot close module, have you got a link? Yes, HHA remembering last setting was a later 2014 addition (2015MY).

I am going to do the exhaust valve mod, does it make a big difference to running in the dynamic setting? There is actually 3 settings on the B8.5, I've found, full dynamic is what I choose every time so am going to blank the vacuum pipe.
