I recently had a bump in my a4. And instead of looking to repair it I found another 2.5 quattro but this time I went for an Estate.

the one i found was cheap as chips

Problems it had as advertised were diesel pump failure. The guy said he bought an auto pump by mistske and didn't want to spend any more money on it
I found it has a cracked windscreen and no MOT

I thought no problem I got everything it needs in the saloon

The body was nice and I can transfer my black interior in.

Got it back and the engine has new belts new stat new pump so feeling a bit of win

Until pump changed no start over

So went to swap over ecu and have a look at relays and found them Swimming in water

So cleaned out the panel where ecu and relays sit still no start up
snap on not reading anything either

Apart from loom wiring being coroded any other reason this could not be starting

Both cars are 51 plate

Isn't the diesel pump coded to the cars immobilisation??

Found this;

You need both the key and PIN code from the donor car as well as the pin from your own car to program a second hand pump. A brand new EDC comes open to be coded so all you need for a brand new one is the pin code from your own car. An edc however does need to be matched and calibrated to whatever pump you use. Speak to a Bosch specialist such as Diesel Bob who can explain to you what needs done.
