Hello

I'm looking for a engine oil dipstick so that I can check the oil level manually.
Don't really trust the MMI oil level check.

I got one from flee-bay but it won't go all the way down. It isn't flexible enough.

The red arrow indicates the position of the "fake" dipstick. That is, it's just a dipstick top, with no dipstick in the tube.

Any one using one on a similar engine.

Thanks

Thanks

I assume the max. and minimum levels on the dipstick are correctly calibrated for my car engine?

I can't confirm that.

I searched on several forums for what others used on the B8/B8.5 3.0 TFSI.

What engine have you got?

Have you tried using the forum's parts request function? I'm assuming you don't have a part number to key into the request, but if you provide the engine code information you've listed in the previous post, it should be possible for the parts guy to identify the correct dipstick for your car.

Is anyone using a dipstick with this engine?
Audi A4 2009 Diesel 2.0 TDi Manual
Engine number from logbook is CAG 198473

I tried with lllparts, and they said they can't supply one as Audi don't make a dipstick for this engine.

Seems like it is only something that the Audi service people would have, and they don't sell it to the public.
They're making it as difficult as possible for you to DIY your car.

Was wondering if anyone is actually using a dipstick on such an engine.

It might still be worth posting an enquiry on our forum part request tab. The people who support it generally try to be as helpful as they can.

Some engine's dress panels have ended up blocking the area where a dipstick would be located, so maybe consider buying the Laser Tools "oil gauge" to check oil. I bought a dipstick for my S4 but the area of the engine is not blocked so I use it not only when servicing the car but also when checking the oil level between services. The Laser Tools "oil gauge" is not meant to be left in place, it is only intended to provide an accurate measure of the present engine oil level while servicing the car.

Do you have a link?

I wouldn't want to leave the after market dipstick in place anyway.
Just want to physically check the oil level.

Why have a dipstick tube with no dipstick in it - unless it's just for the Audi technicians.

I've got one from ebay. Mine is a 3.0 so that is different from yours, but I'm sure there is an option that will fit.

I fitted a dip stick to my b8 a4 2.0tdi
I got it off my local vw/audi specialist.
