Two questions, which might be related.

I'm struggling to get clear answers on this. I got the car changed to a fixed service schedule - this means that I've ended up with a scenario where the car needs an inspection (which includes an oil change) in 30 days - then an oil change 60 days later. Will the inspection actually reset the oil change schedule?
Also should my last oil change appear in the online service history in the app, as it doesn't. The dealer has said it shouldn't but I'm not so sure.

Firstly all the service work I have had done, plus any updates due to a technical service bulletin are all in my digital record within my Audi. So not sure why the dealership is stating otherwise. If I was you I would arrange to have both services performed together. There is 30 days leeway so you could align them both. I am also on a fixed service regime, have been since the car was new, and both are done at the same time, on my 4th service now..

Audi said to me yesterday that an interim service (oil change) includes;
Fluid levels check
Exterior and underbody visual check
Interior and electrics inspection
Written condition report
Audi Service history stamp/record
Oil filter replacement
Engine oil replacement

And the inspection service includes all of the above PLUS;
Air filter replacement
Fuel filter replacement (diesel engines)
Spark plug replacement (petrol engines)
Vehicle road test

So yes makes sense to pay for just the inspection service and also reset the oil service, but being told conflicting things on if that's possible. Just realised I'm not going to be able to visit my normal dealer anyway as they're out of area so e-mailed a couple of others.

Spark plugs don't need replacing until 40,000 miles, air filter 60,000 miles and pollen filter also every 40,000 miles. Brake fluid is time dependent and should be changed at three years, then every two.
Stronic at fluid change at also 40,000 miles..

Just got off the phone to Audi.
After going over everything - an Inspection service does include an oil change and includes the above things I listed WHEN needed. Therefore my oil change will reset as well, which is what I wanted but one dealership told me it wouldn't.
All seems quite simple and what I'd expect, but very difficult to get accurate information.
Also oddly the oil change is showing on my service plan on Audi's side, but not on the app. They said it might be an issue with the app and wait to see if it appears when my next service is complete.

I was told by a very good independent specialist that an ''Audi inspection service'' was just that, an inspection over the car? . All other work is carried out at the regular service schedule?, so surely when they do the ''regular service'' they should be doing an inspection while the car is on the ramp anyway to see if any other work is required at that time or if it's close to being needed to be done?.
Another way of fleecing customers out of more cash if you ask me?.

This - I've never understood why they charge so much money for the 'inspection' service. You will pay a lot for this + the cost of oil change / brake fluid / pollen filter etc etc if its needed. But an oil change is not included in the inspection service unless you ask for or are told otherwise.

I've found the Audi oil change service costs reasonable but the inspection service is just nonsense in my view.

I’ve had 4 inspection services on last 2 audis , both have included oil change without asking .. the dealer also merged a standard oil change and inspection together when they were 1k miles apart . I think it’s even itemised in the digital service schedule ....

So I "unwittingly" paid £232 for an "inspection service" which did not include an oil change. I made the false assumption that "service" meant they actually did something! On challenging them they said if they had done an oil change service it would have been double the price

Via the waste of time "AudiCam" they tried to upsell me a pollen filter replacement at £70 which I declined and £70 for the brake fluid change, also declined as I had the hump. Tried to tell me it needed an MOT when the supplying dealer put a 12 month MOT on when I bought it in Feb 20.

So, I think for me the maintenance relationship with Audi dealers is now over and all future work will be directed to my local VAG specialist.

Pollen filter on VAG is generally easy to do.
My father nearly fell for the £70 pollen filter change on his Yeti two years ago. It's at most a five min job and the filter for the Yeti was a Mann, so £15 for the same thing from Eurocarparts. Most people would pay without questioning and it's easy money for the dealer.
A quick search on Youtube just now reveals it's much the same for the A4 B9.

Thanks - that's what I suspected - shameful really!

....exactly. I had mine done with my local Audi specialist who can record all work done on the Audi service system. Week later an email from Audi saying my ''service was due'' so i replied have you bothered to check my vehicle service history??. They hadn't. They also didn't like it when i told them that i had managed to have the ''Audi smart phone'' activated by DJ Alix after they told me the car on a 2016 plate was too old to have it done!!!!!. My son needed some work on his 17 plate Audi S5 Coupe doing & went to our main Audi dealer who quoted over £900.00 !!!. Went to the local Audi specialist who did it & found a tiny seal that was wearing that Audi hadn't & his bill for all the work was just over £300.00. There not called ''main stealers'' for nothing.

It is unlikely any dealership will activate any options that require coding though. Unfortunately main dealers, whoever they are, are more or less the same. I don't see anything wrong with an service due email either as these are usually automated.
Well done for finding a local Audi specialist though, they are thin on the ground where I live, thus I am happy to fork up for a service plan and an extended warranty...
