Easy to do and inexpensive way to enhance your A6 look and safety...
I had standard white puddle lights fitted and red reflecting plastic blank covers instead of red warning lights.
You can get on eBay good quality piggyback wiring harness set which plugs to puddle light (if fitted) and then extends this to red warning light. The set contains four red warning lights as well. There are few instructions out there in the net showing you how to fit these taking the door cards, removing the bottom of the door etc. I managed to do it using a wire hanger and a piece of string. Once you do one door the you will fly through the rest. I found the front doors a little bit trickier to do than rear.

Good luck!
