I have a 56 plate 3.0tdi quattro cabriolet. I've had a read through the posts to try and point me in the right direction. The dpf light came on two days ago. Its happened before but driving as instruceted as always cleared it. This time I've done the same but the light wont go out. I've driven near enough a hundred miles in the two to two and half thousand rpm range but it looks like its not working this time. Spoken to Audi, the car is booked in and I'm advised it will cost around a hundered and thirty to resolve the issue. Im also advised I can still drive the car provided there is no loss of power! I happy to take it to the main dealer but at the same time I don't want to pay over the odds if a resolution could be found cheaper elsewhere? Also from experience is their a better way to drive the car to get the light out, have to admit I got a little frustrasted yesterday and used all the rev range but it didn't make a difference!

It's not gone into limp yet then?
What are Audi charging you to do, a diagnostic check?
How can they give u a price when they haven't done the checks, could be very expensive?!?
look into getting it cleaned by a specialist or try something like jlm dpf cleaner for £20 it must be with a go?
Ive read good things about it but no one on here seems to have used it?
i had my light on not so long ago and thankfully it regenerated so have read a fair but like you!
good luck.

What is VCDS? I did think that about the price! Apparently the service adviser said it will need a re-gen and it should take about an hour to do so. The car hasn't gone into limp mode yet, I did notice at one point that the revs did drop off slightly but the car now appears to rev quite freely, it actually goes into the red a little. I have looked at the jlm cleaner. Think its got to be worth a go, its already cost a fair bit in fuel with the un-neccesary extra journeys to try and clear it! Audi cant book the car in until the 12th so I've got a little time to find an alternative fix!
