Hello everyone, just need some help on exactly what mods have been done to my car. I know I know, this sounds like a stupid question, but I'm new here so bear with. Recently purchased a 2006 2.0t A3, the dealership I bought it from didn't know what mods if any had been done to the car. Once I looked under the bonnet I discovered a nice Revo air intake and what I think is a Baily's dump valve. However, I'm not sure what the rest of the piping is. I think the pipe coming off the dump valve is from Forge Motorsport, but the rest of the piping I do not know the manufacturer of and not sure exactly what it is. Is it linked to the turbo and dump valve in some way? Here are some pics. Any help would be appreciated, sorry if this sounds long winded and stupid.

I’d be getting that off straight away. If the car still has the original K03 turbo the recirculating diverter valve is attached to the side of the turbo. No need for anything else.
You mention a Revo intake. The photo shows the standard cover. Has this been modified to allow the Revo to run along the back and side by the battery?

Thanks for the reply. I don't this it is the original cover, it might be from an S3. The intake goes all the way around and by the battery, and has a heat shield. Was a huge struggle trying to replace the battery because of the piping tho haha.
This car has the original turbo yes, all diagnostics come up fine and a good Audi specialist mechanic said it all looked okay when he checked it out, came on here for a some different opinions. Before taking any of the mods off do you think it's worth taking it on a rolling road and seeing if there are any problems? Also, do you recognise any of the brands and what mods they are exactly? Cheers.

I don’t know what benefit the aftermarket dump valve has apart from giving out a Subaru type swish on changing gear.
It will be interesting to see what is bolted to the side of the turbo.

Yeah I'm not quite sure what that is:/ could be a turbo hose? I'll get it checked out ASAP. Yeah the dump shouldn't lose me any power, it does sound pretty cool tho aha. Cheers for getting back to me. I'll send another photo of the whole engine bay just so people can see it all better.

Do you know if the factory dv has been relocated?

Get rid of that valve - it’s doing nothing for you unless the previous owner has relocated the dv to the front, instead of off the turbo.

If they have then I wonder why the alloy plug is in the Revo intake, this is where the bleed-off to the dv normally runs from.

Did the Audi specialist point this out?

See how you had car scanned did you do any live data to see if the car had been mapped just with the car having those mods on it , plus did the Audi specialist not mention anything like that when he told you car was ok , or tell you what the other pipes where for the onesyou weren't sure if aftermarket or OEM

I do not know if the DV has been relocated, don't think you can see it from just opening up the bonnet, can you? Yeah I know the Dump valve serves no real purpose, would need to know if the DV is still there. The Audi guy didn't mention it :/
Cheers for the message.

The Audi specialist only looked under the hood and ran diagnostics check (there was a starter motor problem), he saw the dump valve and explained it all to me but din't talk about if the original parts were still there or if there would be any issues. I am betting on the car already being mapped because it has all these mods anyway, gonna take to a rolling road and they can check that out for me.

Not sure about the bleed off to the intake, haven't even noticed that tbh. That' why I came on here coz people notice things that I don't haha. I'll get it all thoroughly checked out.

How is the CAI pipework running alongside the standard engine cover?
I'd be keen to see more photos if you ever remove the cover or get more engine bay photos.

Here are some engine bay pictures with the cover removed. One of the previous owners must of broken the back plastic on the engine cover, as seen in the pictures. I hope these allow a better look at things. Any other helpful comments will be appreciated. I'm also going to be able to access a rolling road in the next few weeks, so i will update on whether my car has already been remapped and know what kind of power it is making. Cheers Fellas.

Cheers for the pics.
If you have a way of reading live data you can see if it has been mapped by the level of boost it produces.
You can also get a good indication of BHP by doing a power run in 3rd up to the red line whilst reading the MAF data. The peak MAF figure should be divided 0.80 and that will give an indication of its peak BHP.
Standard MAF should be around 212 equating to 265bhp, so if it's higher you know it's mapped but the figure may not be 100% accurate.

If it were me, I’d be changing that orange dipstick for the latest yellow version. It’s a ticking time bomb, eventually the orange plastic parts on the dipstick will drop off and go into the sump!
Happy New Year!

I have never heard of that happening, but thanks anyway and Happy New Year to you too sir!

Yes, good spot.
However, if it gets 265 or over then it is mapped ;)
Interesting. I doubt it'll have over 240 hp but you never know! On another note, my brake pads are wearing away, they're currently Mintex pads.
Anyone got any recommendation for cheap (ish) but good brake pads?

I got Brembo discs and pads from ECP via Ebay (half price) for the rear and they have been spot on.
I have stock discs and pads on the front as my order never arrived in time for the day the car was booked in, so I went and bought OEM parts from TPS. They have also been fine, but the Brembo is a nicer finish.

Awesome. Cheers for the replies lads x

Check ECP and GSF, at this time of year they will probably have some decent discount codes.

Strange why the previous owner would relocate the DV to the front of the engine (unless that's the only kit you can get that gives the chavvy whooshing noise?) Normally that's a by-product of fitting a K04 turbo kit to replace the original K03. As mentioned above, replace it with a factory DV as they often reduce both power and driveability.

I still quite like that juvenile “swhooosh” sound haha:) But yeah I agree, getting a decent diverter valve put back in would be better.
