So I probably shouldn't have chosen to clean my EGR whilst suffering from man flu and not fully concentrating!
First problem - dented the egr cooler pipe near where it bolts onto the egr. Basically because I found it impossible to align again to the EGR once the egr was bolted on. So I had vice grips on it - bad move!! Anyhow it's a small dent - is that likely to cause me any issues?!
So then I realised i'd have to take the egr off again - get it bolted to cooler pipe then bolt back onto inlet manifold. And that's when.....one of the heads on one of the egr torx bolts stripped! I swear those things are made of toffee! Thankfully I managed to get it off courtesy of the wonderful vice grips again - handy things they are!
So now I have a fecked torx bolt - going to call local Audi garage today and hope they keep those bolts in stock! Or I might try hammering the next size torx in to create a new head failing that.
To be honest I found the job a right pain due to the fact there is hardly any room to work in there yet alone get a wrench in all the right places.
Oh and I dropped one of my allen keys in the engine bay that I need to try and fish out first - ***!!!
