Hi, my 2011 A4 170, shuddered badly last Thursday and the glow plug light same on flashing, severely restricted throttle, 2,500rpm and no torque.

limped to an Audi specialist garage and plugged into a laptop, told it was the infamous EGR. Told that the best course was to remap as the valve was closed. Had the car remapped and loads more power.

but one day on, driving the car at 40mpg, shudder again (like a stall) then the same glow plug light comes on flashing again and limited to 2,500 rpm and no power.

If you've still got the DPF in place I'm pretty sure you have to have it gutted or removed as the EGR plays a part in raising exhaust gas temperatures from the normal 300ish up to 600 degrees required to regenerate it, if it's not regenerating properly you'll have issues within about 300-600 miles of driving.
