Hi all,

Having had Eiback Pro's professionally installed on my sportback RS3 FL I'm left with horrible rubbing/squeaking noises coming from both front wheels.

This only happens at very low speeds or standstill when turning the front wheels.

No noticeable noises at higher speeds or when riding bumps.

The springs have been removed, thoroughly checking, greased and re-installed - but the problem remains.

I've spoke to a few suppliers/installers are none have come up with a possible solution.

Long shot but wondered if anyone else had a similar problem and managed to resolve it?

Really annoying as the ride and height is perfect for me, so keen to keep them if this could be fixed!

Cheers.

As already said,
Either the protective covering has been removed from the lower coils or the top mounts have came apart and not 100% realigned back up.

Yes these are installed and look to be fine. I expected this to be the problem but alas appears to be ok.

The sound appeared instantly post first install - I've had the car from new and it never made these sounds before, so deffo something has happened during the installed.

Top mounts have been checked and appear to be "ok" - how can this be verified?

I'm not hot on suspension components and install process - are these removed/taken apart when springs are installed? Car has only covered 17k

Cheers.

The top bearing can come apart and as Marshy says needs putting back together correctly if it does.

While mine was off I checked it for smoothness just in case.

Also the spring bottom locates in an end stop in the strut cup.

Mate, I had the exact same issue, I tried both versions of the Eibach springs on the FL RS3 and both were exactly the same. The garage couldn't work out what the issue was either. In the end I caved in and got KW V3's!

Thanks for the feedback.

I've had the following response from a reputable Audi specialist supplier/installer (they didn't install mine...)

"Yes, they do this on the Eibach’s.

You can try lubricating the bottom of the bump stops where they contact the shocker but 9/10 this noise won’t go away. Even with new top mounts the noise still seems to persist".

I'll get the mounts checked again, take the wheels off and check the sleeves/location of the end of the spring in relation to the strut cup and go from there I guess. Not something I can live with unfortunately.

Just thumbing through images on my phone a found a picture of the springs pre-install...

Anyone know of the sleeves need to be positioned at the very end of the spring and not as pictured here?

Your fitting guy didn’t put them in upside down by some chance ?

Nope, sleeved ends of the spring are to the bottom of the damper.

Strange how some have noises after fitting and some don’t.

When it’s in the air and you go lock to lock does it make the same noise ?
