Erratic fuel guage and DIS

Guys, for the last few weeks my fuel guage has got more and more erratic, and the readings are completely off
I've run out of fuel twice now

Any ideas, I think its the sender but any guidance greatly appreciated

Try a few searches - I think the sender in the tank is the main suspect in most of the dodgy gauge readings.

I did a search the other night as ive just bought a 01 Tdi 130 A3 and the fuel gauge stops at the 1/4 mark then the fuel light came on. Thankfully after a few runs I thought the gauge should have moved so went to fill it up to find I was nearly out! Im just going to book mine into the local VW/Audi specialist.
