Yep, mine are pretty much the same at similar miles. A brillo pad will remove the carbon deposits and some (Autoglym for me) metal polish will bring the shine back but it does take some real effort.

I though these were spot welded onto the back box tail pipes, Audi said they wouldn't change mine as a new rear box is £950 !!!!

Mine were replaced under warranty. Started to go off after 4k mls. Pairs of tips is £34. In the display cabinet thats the same price as an Audi pen!!
Washed the RS today. Got the wire wool out and metal polish. Rubbed and rubbed until my fingers were nearly bleeding.. I just couldn't get them to come good. They almost look pitted in placed. Cars only done 12k.
CarrG, did you get them done at Bath, if so who did you approach to get them replaced, sales or service?
Mine are just as bad at 5k
