Hi folks
Just got this in an email and trying to see if this is a good deal. My car is almost 3 year old and running out of warranty on a couple of months. Decided to keep it a bit longer since it’s got very little miles due to covid.
would be good to get your thoughts.

Looks pretty competitive compared to the price of a two year warranty extension on a new car.

Would check the small print to understand what is and what isn’t covered but at that price Id personally take it up on the basis you get another two years of worry free motoring.

also worth checking to see what the position would be be if you sold the car - would the warranty move with it?

The pay as you go warranty comparison cost looks a bit high, but aside from that, the All-in price looks excellent. Obviously they won’t compare service cost to that of an indy specialist....

Two questions:
1. Is it all component cover for the warranty or named component?

If answer to Q1 is all component:

2. Where do I sign?

My warranty is up in about 6 weeks so watching with interest [...goes to check email inbox...].

I got the 2 year service plan last year.
that was just over £300 so based on that I can get it again that means the extended warranty, Mot and roadside cost just under £500 which MOT accounts for £100 of that. I don’t think it’s too bad. Mines coming up for 3 years and getting serviced just before it runs out so all stuff will get sorted before it runs out then this will kick in if I get it.
need to find out what components are covered/not covered.

Looking at their website, a car needs to pass an inspection visit for the plan to be activated - am sure that can be done at the same time as a service.

that’s what I’m looking at doing. Then in theory the car will be perfect as any issues will be covered under existing factory warranty then extended should kick in for future issues.
 
I bought my S3 recently at 3 years old and might have been eligible for this, though of course it wasn't available at the time. I decided to chance my luck without a standalone warranty, as my cars have tended to need work at 5-7 years (usually suspension) rather than 3. I'm running mine at an independent VAG specialist with no expense spared, so it'll be interesting to compare costs.

Like for like, that is with 2x services / MoTs / roadside - but without warranty - I reckon my approach would cost c.£600. So, I think the Audi offer looks good considering the warranty.

Beware that the Audi franchises will cost you more in Haldex / brake fluid / ancillaries though. These sorts of costs aren't optional in maintaining an S3 - and aren't highlighted. It's therefore unreasonable to call it a complete package.

Franchises also have a low threshold for MoT advisories like brake discs, which again add to the cost.

Finally, my experience with the Audi warranty is that it can be lacking at times and I've had to rely on local dealer relationships to fill in the gaps.

Yeah I think the dsg, haldex and any other diff servicing is extra as that’s not part of the inspection service. Brake fluid might get done as that’s within the inspection or at least it was in my last Audi.
 
I will be be getting the extended warranty if I keep my car passed 3 years but I have until next march to sort it out .

Brake fluid wasn’t covered by my service plan on my S3 nor my parents A6.

Maybe a dealer specific thing but if I remember right it was at 3 years on both my a6

Yeah it is something that needs doing at three years, but what I meant was that the Audi service plan didn’t cover it. I.e. had to pay extra to have it done (we went elsewhere)

Brake fluid, air con, Haldex, DSG, diff, pano roof services are all outside service plans despite being required/recommended.

I booked mine in yesterday for a service. Crikey the price of an air con service has gone up Apparently newer cars from ~2018 have a different refrigerant - I thought they were having a laugh.

Think I was quoted around £180 for the new r1234 refrigerant. My mate owns a garage and he says there’s a shortage of it so it’s expensive and other than dealers many independents don’t want to shell out a fortune for new air con machines. His original one for the old refrigerant(r134) was £10k ish 7-8 years ago and the refrigerant was dirt cheap back then so he made his money back very quickly. He’s not looking at getting a new machine. Payback just isn’t there in the short term.
 
The warranty part of that offer looks ok - but it's interesting that they're trying to lock you in to using the main dealer for the service work on top. Shame it's not like it used to be, and extension to the roadside assistance (around £180 for 2 years) and a separate warranty extension for around the same money, letting you continue to go to an indie for the service work.

Sorry if it's been mentioned skipped most of the thread, I took out the extended warranty last year when mine hit 3 years old. If you buy it on it's own and then sell the car you can get a pro rata refund on the warranty. Worth checking to see if you can cash in on this plan.

For the warranty, I paid £297 for all components cover for 12 months.
Audi breakdown cover £89 for a year, two years of breakdown was £145, both can be switched to the new owner if you sell the car.

Make sure you renew in the last 30 days before your factory warranty runs out, prices if you miss a day will be double! same if you try and do it early, it shows double! https://www.insurewithaudi.co.uk/extended-warranty

this is vag approach at keeping dealers busy

I think the all in one warranty is designed so you need to go back to dealers for servicing. This has 2 folds for Audi. Keeps their dealer networks busy and potentially get a sale when you go in and see all the shiny new cars.
still can’t seem to get an answer is it all component cover or just named components, either way all I care about is engine/gearbox and mmi/vc. Other things breaking won’t bankrupt me.

What I mean is if you buy the all in one warranty and then sell the car, is it transferable or can you get a pro rata refund on it. Like you can with the one I took out with Audi.

I read somewhere, can’t seem to find it now, if you haven’t made a claim you just stop the monthly payments at that point, let’s say you sold the car. If you have made a claim then you have to pay the full premium for that year. Which to me seems fair. Kinda like car insurance.

The document says mechanical and electrical component cover but doesn’t says specific what’s covered as everything in a car is electrical or mechanical other than bodywork and trim panels.

It looks like a good deal but, the service plan required the car to be on fixed interval servicing. My A3 is on the flexible service schedule as I do a high annual mileage (though not quite as high due to lockdown) so it does not really work for me.

Might be worth having a chat with a dealer about it. Depends on your mileage but if you are doing around 20k a year then 2 annual services is about right.

I checked directly with Audi Customer Services and they confirmed the car would have to move onto fixed interval servicing. The car is just coming up to 3 years old and I plan to keep it for another 2 years. So, on its current flexible schedule the car gets serviced at about 19000 miles so for me that means once a year, meaning 2 services over the next two years (4th & 5th year of ownership). If I switch to the fixed service schedule offered on this deal it means a service at about 9500miles so two services in the first year (4th year) and having to then pay again for servicing the following year (5th year).

So 2 extra services on top of the £784 around extra £500 ish.
that makes it shy of £1300 for the 4 services, 2 years warranty, 2 mot and 2 years roadside. It’s isn’t that bad to be honest. I was quoted £800 for my a6 just for the 1 year extended warranty a few years ago.
 
What car is that for.

My wife's s3 had a 4 year warranty when new, as I opted for an extra year.

But since then I've renewed it every year.it costs about £430 a year for the highest warranty.

At Christmas they had an offer of 25% on service plan covering a minor and a major service, it was £375 ish.

If your desk is for an s3 and includes breakdown and 2 mots then its a good deal

Having claimed on the extended warranty couple of times, things that arent covered are eg. MMI, most internal electrics, glass. We had an issue with the DAB aerial and had it from day 1 when i bought the car new, was never fixed properly, so they agreed to replace the DAB aerial. Issue is its embedded in the rear hatch glass. Was free but normally youd have to still pay even with a warranty. It was a crazy £880.

Another reason to avoid Audi lol

Strange Mr wife's s3 which is 7 years old has been 430 a year for 0 excess with audi parts for years 5 to 7....it had a 4 year warranty from new

Is that in the last 30 days? if not or if out of main warranty the price is always higher. mine was until I was into the last 30 days before the factory warranty ran out, then the quote came down by 50%.
