OK, I've been called an Audi 'tart' before and I'm sure I will again, especially after today...

And what a day; sunny and dry to start but misty and damp at Stafford Audi; but these are all 4-wheel drive beasties and its slippy/slidy stuff out there.

Some are standing around somewhat surprised that they're just getting a set of keys to whatever and told to go and 'experience'.

Not me; I know what's coming and can't wait to get my hands on the RS7; everything else will be judged against it as for me the RS7 ticks all of my boxes. And so it did; out on my prescribed route to Uttoxeter and back with some mid 3-figure numbers shown on the head-up: kept trying to get closer to that display but couldn't. Came back exhausted, how can you improve on the engine/brakes/dynamics of this machine?

A coffee, a quick chat, a "who wants a go in an RS5?" and my hand going for the ceiling lights. This is the old RS5, Stafford Audi has had it some time, and the tyres are seriously well run in. Same route but hey, this thing is a' sliding like the RS7 didn't. However, I've now an RS4 stuck-to-me-bum so I need to push; push and slide, push and slide. A great noise the RS5 makes must have woken up several road users between Stafford and Uttoxeter but hey, the morning's getting on. The RS5 certainly entertaing a Mercedes with a '63' on the boot, s Daytona500 in the RS4 behind witnessed.

Another coffee and bacon butty. The S1; hand up again; been practicing clutch-in, move that lever with the knob on, and clutch out for two weeks now so we're thinking we're ok... We obviously need more practice; however, what a superb motor car: brakes, steering, interior trim, and noise, just about everything is ticking all the right boxes...

Andy Poole keeps on saying I've got to try the S8, "you MUST try the S8" again and again.

OK, we'll give it a go. A different route but ok. 1000yards and were both speaking words I don't want to print here but WOW! What a piece of machinery. This is some big piece of machinery that gave a XKR Jaguar driver a work-out (and lost...) The short run was extended, doubled maybe, and this piece of machinery was hugely impressive in every way; brake and steering feel on the damp, undulating, duck and dive roads was hugely impressive; I couldn't fault it. I didn't try what 'jojo' did mind, and 'desertstorm' will be happy if he doesn't do it again with him passenger, either...

What else? Who wants a go in an SQ5 shouts Andy Poole and this bl**dy hand is in the air again with me looking at it...

OK! The SQ5 is a twin turbo diesel; now I didn't know that until I got back! Believe me, I DID NOT KNOW IT WAS A DIESEL. I'll be checking later; but this thing was, again, amazing! Out on the twisty, wet stuff, and this thing was behaving like a hooligan, just like all the others, actually...
A FULL day. A WONDERFUL, MEMORABLE day! I cannot thank Sandra and Stafford Audi enough, for me the most comprehensive motoring experience I/we've ever had.

I bet Andy Poole sleeps well tonight, he worked all day without fade, and must be congratulated: I bet he sleeps well tonight; as I will.

Thank you is NOT enough but it's 100% sincere.

Audi Sales brochures and tape measures are out again; what an incredible array of motor cars these AUDI guys have. :applaus:

TO END: I want to thank Sandra for arranging this event; I want to thank Stafford Audi, everyone at Stafford Audi from TOP to BOTTOM; the directors, the sales guys, the customer service guys, the wash guys, the receptionist who's name I've forgotten but carried on professionally while the rest of us were being organised by Andy Poole but still took time to be courteous and nice.

But 100% to Andy Poole and Chris Jones and Phil Cole and Dave (A4 on the A5 who I thought was tagging me and my RS3).

One other person, my wife (RS3copilot): how she sits quietly by my side in some unknown car with me giving it the full beans on damp roads with sub 3ºC ambient temperatures is beyond me; I couldn't do it.

THANK YOU... I'll NEVER forget the day.

Oh, and for you guys that are too young to be given the keys of a near new 552bhp/516lb/ft Audi RS6/7 just think of the time in the future when you will. There's better to come and you'll be able to experience.

And I'll swap you youth for experience (i.e., cheap insurance, etc) anytime...

Big thank you to Sandra and Stafford Audi, the day was great! Passenger first but then I was able to drive those beasts!! Felt so slow getting back into the S3! Thank you and it was great meeting everyone too!

The Launch control was epic in all the RS cars! The RS4 had a mental launch, whereas the rs6 and 7 had a very progressive launch (probably due to the torque). Epic day I'll never forget!

To be fair the U25 issue comes down to driving unsupervised and its a insurance thing. You can test drive them all day long with a sales guy .
But the thing is when your told by the organisers and Audi themselves it would be fine to drive them but then to turn up on the day and be told no is a bit of a pisstake tbh! Especially when you've had to give up a days work in order to go! They offered us a drive but on a completely different day and that would have been in the passenger seat ... Complete opposite to what the event was about! Bit let down by Stafford Audi to be fair been a very good customer to them over the past year

If if you were told that it is wrong, I've always known about the Under 25 thing as was the same story at the Audi Sport experience day. Don't you fancy someone in with you

If you feel that strongly I would politely let them know via email or telephone

If you had hung around like the other under 25's you would have got a drive

Can understand your frustration but I can also understand Stafford Audis position

Perhaps being told to come back another day as a passenger wasnt helpful, I would have been annoyed myself

On a plus note If there had been a serious incident in one of those seriously quick cars and they hadnt got the insurance sorted

I dont think we would be heading to Stoke or Crewe for another go.

Hope to see you at one of those....

What I'd give to be under 25 again...

It may be the same for me in April; your how old! We're not giving you the keys to an RS5/6/7/8 to go play with on a cold, damp, frosty morning...

However, Stafford Audi actually spoke to me about the brewing situation, told me of their 'responsibilities', and asked my view; I believe Stafford Audi were 100% correct with the decision they made and maintained. The offer was made to take anyone out with supervision and I'm surprised that was not accepted by all.

It's a great company, Stafford Audi did a great job, and they want to do it again this year with yet 'more' cars - and I'd very much like that to happen and to be there

Never been offered an unaccompanied drive in a sub 4 second car and I'm 42

I thought the level of trust they showed yesterday was extraordinary

Apart from the R8 they pretty much gave us the keys to the sweetshop !

That day yesterday would have cost Stafford Audi and Audi UK thousands

Audi has gone up quite a bit in my estimations, realise its a way of selling cars but they dont really need to do that !

Ive not been fortunate enough to try one yet, hopefully at Stoke or Crewe

Its a struggle getting a test drive in cars I can afford let alone ones I cant really unless I sell my organs !

I think thats why yesterday was such a good marketing tool...it really has planted the RS seed in my mind now

Was very pleased also at the feedback for the S1 sportback, which as you know I have, majority really enjoyed it

I do think its one of Audis very best cars at the moment.

Where was bluey all day? Was hoping to say hi.

By request BLUEY was in the adjacent non-Stafford Audi car park, no worries. But see you in Stoke, make a point of it. That Porsche Viper Green on your car looked stunning...

And I managed to get out in that Viper Green RS5, waited a while for that... A truly GREAT day... We need name badges next time...

I thought you guys were very patient and kept your cool ...getting rewarded in the end

I never got to drive the RS4 or the RS7 and the RS5 only briefly as it needed refueling

It was just as much about meeting people off this forum, with a few drives thrown in...a great day

I will second what Lee said, we was out in the Q7 and as soon as we pulled into the car park Lee was informed he was clear to drive.
The extended the driving time up to 5.00 so those who didn't get to drive still had the chance to do so.

That to me is above and beyond being helpful, they should have stopped at 4.00 but didn't.
Who else would give someone they have never met before who is under 25 the keys to a high performance car and say off you go have fun?
Everyone at Stafford Audi is a credit to the brand and I couldn't have found a better way to spend a damp Sunday.
Thank you to you all.

The fact is they told us to go home as we wouldn't get a drive supervised ... Unsupervised or even as a passenger!

We said it was fine to just be a passenger but they weren't prepared to even do that on the day . We left our phone numbers with them of there was any viable solution to the situation: we completely understood the insurance situation but to have been told all week in the run up to the event there wouldn't be a problem was a let down

The dealership know myself and John very well so we didn't understand the Mia communication between the team on here and theirs .

That seems strange because I gave a guy and his girlfriend both under 25 a few passenger test drives
Then later he drove the RS6 pretty sure on his own and the S1 I was a passenger in that !

As I said before I would speak to the dealership and I'm sure they will sort something out for you

Yea that was lagoonjsh he was 19 and went out in the rs6 and s8 on his own. I had paul in with me after been a passenger it was his turn as a passenger I think he enjoyed it lol

I was there when he was explaining to the under aged guys and Andy was trying to find something they could drive and even said to Lee to call him when he is 25 in a few months and he would arrange for a few drives for him personally. Andy was trying very hard to get the situation sorted while still trying to organise the cars for rest of us.
Lee and his missus came out with me a couple of times and I went out with him when he got to drive the RS4 and RS6.
But I just have to add it was purely for the fun of being in the RS again rather than Lee having to have someone with him.

Contrast this with Mercedes who invited the missus' father to a launch/test-drive thing for some model or other but was charging £399 for the privilege!

I was also amazed at the freedom they allowed of unaccompanied drives in such powerful cars - I'm 47 and in my experience it's usually impossible trying to talk dealers into allowing you to test drive the RS models by yourself if they don't feel there's a real chance of a sale.

I don't blame Stafford Audi one bit, you shouldn't be allowed to drive these cars if your under 25
What would have happened if someone not used to the sorts of power the RS 5/6/7 produce had crashed or hit someone while out showing off?

As John as said myself and him were very disappointed at this! The guys didn't even seem to care that they had ruined our day! This was going to be a potential buy for myself as john ... I've been looking at the s5 and John at the s3 so would have been a perfect opportunity to spend a bit longer with the cars then the normal test drive

But the thing is when your told by the organisers and Audi themselves it would be fine to drive them but then to turn up on the day and be told no is a bit of a pisstake tbh! Jake Fowler you only joined the forum on Jan 9 2015 the same day as the event was posted, you've made less than 20 posts on the forum 8 of which are complaints because you feel Quote"Bit let down by Stafford Audi to be fair been a very good customer to them over the past year". Jake Fowler you've obviously bought a lot of cars of them this past year so i can't understand for the life of me why they didn't hand you the keys to a high performance Audi RS to drive as you please,as you say Quote]'As John as said myself and him were very disappointed at this! The guys didn't even seem to care that they had ruined our day! This was going to be a potential buy for myself as john ... I've been looking at the s5 and John at the s3'' ,Jake Fowler i presume they have lost your business on a potential purchase of the S5? especially as you say Quote 'But the thing is when your told by the organisers and Audi themselves it would be fine to drive them but then to turn up on the day and be told no is a bit of a pisstake tbh!'.

The dealership know myself and John very well so we didn't understand the Mia communication between the team on here and theirs .

Talking (telephone) with one of the employees at Stafford Audi earlier today I was informed, and somewhat amazed, that the minimum age of a Stafford Audi employee to take anything with an RS badge on it's rear-end is 30. If that's true, and I've no reason to doubt it, then I'd seriously recommend all of those guys to join audi-sport.net today and book the Stoke and/or Crewe Audi meet.

To confirm, the very nice Mr. Jones, the after sales advisor in attendance, told me emphatically on the day that he'd never driven an RS6 or RS7, and all due to insurance difficulties.

So hey, we need to settle down some and take in the real world situation here.

If any young person was given false information then just take it as it is; it's over and done with, move on, you'll get another day, I'm sure.

But if you're mega desperate to abuse an RS engineered Audi then you need to do the same as I have and go buy one, life is like that, I know...

I have an RS3 and I know I'm fortunate but it's taken a lot of hard work to get something like BLUEY available for as and when I want to drive it.

Sorry, but you've just got to wait your turn, just like the rest of us, and enjoy it while you can: I'd love to swap and do it all over again but life ain't like that.

100% for Stafford Audi... 100% for Stafford Audi... 100% for Stafford Audi... 100% for Stafford Audi... 100% for Stafford Audi...

A memorable day, thank you...

Wow, what a day! Thank you so much Sandra and Stafford Audi for organising this, plus Joe for the ride up. At nearly 45, I've driven lots of cars on many events, but never been tossed the keys to cars with supercar pace and left to drive on my own, where-ever, for 30mins each time! The local roads I know fairly well, so a nice test route was quickly found! SQ5 TDI was surprisingly quick, S1 even quicker, RS4 awesomely fast (but I dislike the harsh gearchanges), the S8 a fast massive luxury beast, RS7.............. just gobsmacking. Even after having driven the RS6 and R8 V10 at Millbrook, the RS7 was definately the fastest. It just throws itself up the road in total abandon. I've got it all on Go Pro video, but there's no way I can post it on You Tube - instant licence ban!! Haha! Joe Tang was my passenger and witness though, we couldn't stop laughing all the way! ;) The test route turned out to be far too short at those speeds though!! I am now in complete awe at just how quick the new RS cars are; and can't believe people actually go on to tune them even faster! They are simply missile fast, handle on rails, stop in organ moving time, just amazing! I kept saying that these cars just felt like they were designed to ignore the speed limits, the RS6 and lighter & faster RS7 are irresponsible hooligan quick! Alistair
