Has anyone fitted the ally dead pedal and could give me an idea how to go about it. The location of any fitting tabs or bolts etc would be very helpful and appreciated

I did it to my S5:
RS6 facelift Dead Pedal

So while enhancing the interior I thought I would add the dead pedal / foot rest from the facelifted RS6:

Part number: 4G2-864-777-B-3Q7
This is normally £102.47 from TPS, but I mananged to scoop one on ebay for £55 :)

Now when you lok at this part the alloy cover is just secured over the standard A6 plastic part:

part no. 4G2-864-777-A, which is cheap enough, so happy to be a bit more radical with the modding.

Side by side with the removed S5 plastic dead pedal:

This shows the securing lugs are in the same location. However, the lugs are of a slightly different design and do no locate securely in the S5. Now you could just replace the the plastic part from the RS6 dead pedal with that on the S5, but that does not work either as the RS6/A6 plastic dead pedal (4G2-864-777-A) is about 10mm in deepth, as can be seen in the box section on the rear face above.

So plan B:
Remove plastic A6 part and cut off the lugs:

Then refit and place the original S5 part under it to retain the correct lugs:

Now to keep it secured everywhere it needed a couple of additional fixings:
an adapted picture hook:

and a self-tapping screw and trimmed plastic washer:

Now it fits perfectly:

Now it looks the way it should have come out of the factory.
