hey guys ive recently had a nightmare with a car ive just purchased.
the car drives fine when driving normal no noises etc but when i floor it it spins with traction light flashing, took it to a local vag specialist who replaced the whole back haldex coupling and still the problem persists now they think its the transfer box we scanned the car no faults after the haldex was fitted can someone please tell me if a transfer box is capable of this problem cheers,

It's possible the transfer box has an issue but I would of thought if that was faulty you would have a lot of mechanical noise from it . More likely some kind of electrical issue. Have they used a proper VCDS lead to run diagnostics?

Yeah no electrical faults mate everything is clear no.codes. I've changed all.at the back.so we no it cant be that he sure its bevel box I was just curious if it could cause these issues.

When you got the coupling replaced did you get the haldex oil and filter changed ?

If this is gunked up it can stop the haldex system working properly and could be causing the issues your having.

Yeah mate we changed the oil and everything the back is working apparently they did a test somehow and come to.conclusion my bevel.box is gone so I've not heard about it ya see

It could be the transfer box. The transfer box went on my 3.2. The car drove absolutely fine. No issues or noises. But when I took it apart it the propshaft gear had worn smooth. Guess it had been launched a lot in its age. Only done 80k as well

How does transfer box failure.cause the wheelspin if anyone could explain cheers

If the box has failed for some reason then power is not transferred to the rear wheels so essentially the car is FWD. 340 bhp if the car is standard is more than enough to spin the wheels at a pretty decent rate.

Oh ok yeah It is a fwd and its stage 1 got 410 hp I just dint no transfer box.causes.so.much wheelspin

Transfer box doesn’t cause wheel spin. It’s job is to direct drive from the gearbox to the prop shaft to the rear wheels to eliminate wheel spin.

Correct, the propshaft should always turn (when engine is running and in gear) regardless wether the rear wheels are required to provide drive

I see so does having high torque and tunes and launches cause damage to. This bevel box I've just bought the car and only launched it few times . What type of service is required so this doesn't happen in future ? Cheers

Power and torque shouldn’t impact it too much. It’s launches that will kill it.

hey guys i changed the transfer box and ive got 4 wheel drive back buzzing cheers for your help guys.
