where you guys get your gap from? What shall I set my claim limit as? My s3 comes to 35k. What price was your gap?

Mine is from ALA (ala.co.uk) and I purchased the a 3 year Vehicle replacement Plus policy and set the purchase price as the full price for the car without including any of the of discount. I set the GAP Claim Limit at £20,000 and it cost me £165.20.

I will be going with ALA too but will have them price match another GAP company for 5 years £280, £25k max cover

This may help if you want to look around:

http://www.gapinsurance.co.uk/how-do-our-gap-insurance-policies-compare.asp

Mine was a price match as well. Their original price was £188 but GapInsurance 123 quoted £169 and ALA did a price match less 20%.

I went with Audi after they managed to provide a more reasonable price for it.

I went with Gapinsurance123. £169 for 3 years on a £25000 limit deferred for 1 year. (Replacement car policy as it gives you more back than return to invoice)

Mine was from ALA and was:

Vehicle Replacement Plus+
Invoice price of car (w/o discount): £34,840
Amount of cover: £25,000
Length of cover: 4 years
Cost: £252 (less the Quidco discount which I forgot what it was)

I also took out Alloy Wheel Insurance for 3 years but they had to refund me the premium as the S-Line wheel are diamond cut finish which is excluded from ALA's cover.

Gapinsurance123 works out cheaper for me (plus it's based within 30 min drive which is always handy) £157 for 3 years combined vehicle replacement on a £20000 limit, deferred for the 1st year.

Hmm just looking at another company on the list Liquidfusion-S3 posted easygap.co.uk as soon as I saw the website I thought it looked the same as Gapinsurance123, then looked at the phone number and that is the same!!! Yet one shows the underwriters being in Gibraltar and the other in the UK!!! Both came in at the same price.

lol just called them up, shortfall.co.uk also comes under the same number with UK based underwriters...they are calling me back with more details.

Edit again* Very helpful guy phoned back, turns out that all 3 are virtually the same T&C's and all go via the same claims centre. Told him the car I was getting etc. and he recommended Gapinsurance123 as their policy on replacing a new car is slightly better if the value of the car being insured had been Audi/dealer reduced for a newer model down the line. Basically if your S3 was updated to a newer model in 4 years time 123 would pay for the newer model as long as it is covered by you claim limit, the other two would still get you a replacement car but they'd go for the older model at the reduced price if they were still available, if not only then would they go for the newer model.

Hi,
Just to let you know that we offer a product called Total Loss Protection. Whilst it's not exactly the same as a traditional GAP product we feel it can offer a cost effective alternative. If you'd like any further details then please feel free to drop me a line.
Regards,
Dan.

I got vehicle replacement plus.

£25k limit
4 years cover.

£220 with ala insurance

10% cashback for ALA on Quidco.

Got mine from Frank pickles. Hundred quid for 15k cover for return to invoice cover for 3 years. Compared to ala and gapinsurance123 seemed to provide best price and level of cover

I used ALA once again. Forget what I paid, but it was under £200 with full RTI + policy. Invoice value of the car was just shy of £38k. Has anyone claimed on ALA? Be interested to hear - I claimed on Audi/VW GAP a few years ago and they paid out almost straight away, no hassle at all. I do often wonder if ALA will be as good if the worst happens? Of course Audi GAP premiums are silly money these days - I got that Audi policy a while back on a mk5 gti that I had from new - was stolen after 2 1/2 years/40k miles of ownership ... ended up with £26k in my sky rocket to buy a new car. GAP, got to love it.

Just remember that RTI will only pay out up to the discounted invoice figure. With car replacement you'll get the full value up to the pre-discount cost to replace. Gap123 don't insist that you re-order through same manufacturer either meaning you can take your money try something new :)

With Gap123 you can take out the gap insurance up to 6 months after the day you took delivery of the car. This is what I'm doing as I'd rather keep the cash in my bank for as long as possible and my existing car insurance has new car replacement for 1 year so I'm covered anyway. My Gap123 policy won't begin until the end of November.

Yeah that is a point he mentioned to me, handy if something happened just as you were about to switch out the S3 for something else.
