Was going to order new tyres today after 15k on the 235 Goodyear Supersports.
Spotted this variant that’s just become available.
It’s an Audi Original (AO) version, so I rang Goodyear technical and the guy I spoke to informed me they are a tyre Audi are going to use on the new A3 high performance platform (when I asked RS3 ? He said yes)

That’s the ones I fitted on my R Sean.
The AO fitment was also cheaper!
Not sure why

Good to know T, thank you for sharing. I need to replace all four corners of the pirellis these coming months so will definitely look into these mate.

It might be what Goodyear say but it is still not the Audi fit for the RS3 according to the Audi specs. That is RO1/RO2. Having compared the AO and RO2 Pirelli side by side they were nothing like each other. IMHO the AO is no better fitting than anything else. If it is cheaper then go for it.

Does not bother me either way as I run PS4S but I think they are as suitable as any other non-RO2 tyre.

Thanks for your insight I’ve never heard of an R01/2 before.

I didn’t say for the current RS3 either. The guy in Goodyear technical said they are for the new 8Y high performance models.

Not everyone is a property developer...

I once bought 4x 235 , 17" , loose for under £139 , but they cracked .

Lesson learnt , performance tyres aside , if doing mega mileage buy cheaper and they never have the chance to crack before wearing out .

Much lower mileage and takes many years to wear down , buy expensive .

What has property developing to do with buying tyres ?

£130 odd a corner seems pretty decent for a high performance 19 inch tyre!

Plus there's always deals with a few quid off knocking about.

It's an RS3 not a Kia Picanto, of course tyres are going to be relatively pricey compared to 'regular' hatches.

It would be interesting to find out where the AO has improved in what areas .

The classic tyre compromise is better dry performance = less wet performance .

Probably the same as the GY Supersport I already have on the car.
I find them great in the wet too. Hence my decision to get them again this time.

Had them fitted yesterday.

Very similar stretched look on these to the P Zeros.
In fact I’d say the AO look more stretched than the regular Supersports I already had fitted.

Brother had some fitted to his Seat the other week opted for the ao rather than standard as there was a £10 difference per corner and officially they are quieter? he is chuffed either way and they are good tyres, may persuade me away from ps4s

Yes supposedly 1 db quieter

Been doing some ‘driving’ today and I’m still impressed with how they perform.

1 db quieter is 17% quieter in percentage terms.
