Google Maps

I’ve had my S3 nearly 6 months now and just the other day the navigation switched to google maps, the next time I got in the car it defaulted back to the standard overlay. This is the only time I have seen google maps displayed.

Anyone else have any issues with this?

Mine has been switched on since day 1 without issue. Looks far better than the standard maps.

MIne switched to google maps when there had been an attempt at an OTA MMI patch ( altered graphics on the welcome screen etc etc ). Patch failed and it reverted back after half a dozen reboots.

You should just be able to go into map Settings and it’s one of the display options. Once set should stay on that setting. If you use Apple CarPlay the. On the main display you will get Apple maps. But on the virtual cockpit Google maps should still work.

I can't see any option in the navigation settings to change the map source. I can only get Google Maps on the MMI via Apple CarPlay. The virtual cockpit has the default overlay with no option to change.
