Hi all,
This is my guide to retrofit glove box light to a Audi A4 (B8 chassis)
This is the way I chose to install the lights and will accept no responsibility for any damage/ injuries caused by following this guide, others may have different ways to do this, so please use this as a guide only

Ok, so I ordered the kit from RobinA3, a member on here, The kit was made to a very high standard and arrived very quickly.

Tools I used were:
Flat head driver to prise fuse covers off
10mm socket
8mm socket
insulation tape

The kit

Prise the fuse panel cover off with a flat headed screwdriver

And remove the 6x 8mm bolts holding in the glove box, and disconnect the brown plug you will see

This is the hole for the light, fit the light from inside the box and connect on the plug with the black and red cable

Then plug the other connector in, with the 2 red cables, this is the switch to bring the light on when you open the glovebox

Remove the trim at the bottom of the door and locate the 10mm nut which, on my car has 2x brown wires already on it, feed the black cable down to this and put the nut back on and tighten up

Now for the feed I connected into the fuse carrier, these are switched feeds so the light will only work with the key in
i chose the fuse carrier on the right and please note, you must use a spare way in the top of the carrier not the bottom as I first did because this will not work (as the pic shows) *use one of the top spare ways*
Remove the fuse carrier

And unclip the back off

then slide out the pink retainer slider

then slide in the pin and close the pink retainer

refit the back of the fuse carrier and slide the fuse carrier back in to it's place and tidy up the cables with insulation tape or zip ties, and fit a fuse in the slot you have used

Refit all trims, and glove box, insert key in ignition and you're done

Hi mate,
Ignore the blue wire it's nothing to do with the glove box light
Previous owner wired in a hand free kit, I need to tidy that up really.

No B8's have glove box lights unless it had the optional add-on of light package I think

Glove box light kits - £25 posted - pm for details.

Got one of these kits from Robin quick delivery and was really easy to fit good quality! Amazing how much you depend on the light!:)

Thanks got it, i've removed the 6 8mm bolts but the glovebox is still attached somewhere at the top right does anyone know how to get it out? Seems to be behind the MMI unit but I don't want to pull it too hard in case I break it! tia

It seems like I have another fastener in here circled in red, it very awkward to get to so hopefully someone knows what size and type it is so I can but the correct size tool to get it out

Slightly off topic but it seemed rather a poor show that the glove box light was an optional extra in the first place.

Crazy eh! Will update thread today when I get some stereo removal keys to finish this off

All done :thumbs up:stereo removal keys arrived and I got the AMI unit out of the way to find the last 8mm bolt hiding under it! Great to have a glovebox light finally

It wasn't an optional extra as there was one fitted originally along with all the air vent dial lights, iirc there was a problem with the light causing a fire in the wiring so obviously instead of sorting it all out Audi chose to remove it all entirely as they probably had a bad month so were down on funds :tearsofjoy:
