Hi everyone.
Just popped out to put some petrol in the S3 and on the way to the garage got a minimum oil level warning.
Purchased a bottle of oil and when I removed the filler cap noticed a small amount of white residue on the inside of the cap.
There wasn't an excessive amount and it was only on the cap itself.
The car is not running badly or anything like that.
Could it just be due to the excessive cold weather we have had recently or do you think the head gasket could be on its way out?
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks and a happy new year to you all:icon_thumright:

Sometimes condensation gets in there and causes this problem, happens a lot with cars doing short journeys regularly

thanks mate thats what i was hoping to hear.
I do mostly small trips and like I said its running fine so fingers crossed
thanks again

I do mostly small trips
yes its a known side affect of short trips, condensation forms in the crankcase and doesn't get a chance to to heat up enough to disperse it.

take it for a nice long run mate, dont need to thrash it, and then recheck the cap, as the other guys have said 99% it will be condensation, i believe also that the s3's having ally heads also dont help the milky oil issue?
