Heater controls removal tool?

Can anyone recommend a tool for the removal of the heater climate controls on a 2010 A6.
I understand the method that it attaches by, but it's very hard to get at the press tabs, and even more so without damaging the top of the unit.
The unit looks like this;

There is no method for it's removal.
You need to remove vents from above it first, plastic trim above the ashtray and below climate control unit and the unit will just slide out.
