Oryt lads I have recently bought (2months ago) my A4 2.0tdi sline 09 plate from Evans Halshaw and have just had the emission warning light come on. I have been to my local garage and had diagnostics ran on it. It came back with Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 4 bank 1: implausible signal P246F - mechanical failure. Any advice/guidance would be much appreciated as I have had a look on the web and can only find information on sensor 1,2 and 3.
Currently waiting on halshaws getting back to me about whether it is covered under the initial 3 Month warranty if not I'm going to sort myself.
Thanks

AFAIK there is no sensor 4.
Sensor 1 is pre turbo, sensor 2 post turbo pre DPF, sensor 3 post DPF.
Did a quick google search

Found several other threads where that error occured but none of them seem to have found the problem.
It's possible that sensor 3 has been labelled as 4 because there could be a sensor between the cat and the DPF, Just an idea.
I would try disconnecting the EGT sensor plugs and see what faults are raised.
If you disconnect the plug for the last EGT sensor after the DPF and it should report an electrical problem.
If it is covered by the warranty then I would say you are lucky, In my experience most warranties aren't worth the paper they are written on.
If you have an android phone get yourself a bluetooth dongle for £5 off Flea bay and download the Carista app.

Cheers for the response mate been on the phone to Evans Halshaw this morning and because it is within the first 3 months it is covered under warranty regardless of the fault.
