Help identifying gearbox/propshaft part

[Super Nintendo Chalmers]

Can anyone help identify this part highlighted? A part number would be ideal and any info on how this might be fitted would also be very helpful.

The issue is that aluminium housing is detaching from the rubber, causing vibrations.

Is this the bracket holding the prop to the body of the car?


You can see the play in the vid of that particular part. Which is what the mechanics have identified.

Have used it myself before

Have used that before and it's pretty decent. But not having much experience with gearboxes and props means I'm a little blind on those exploded diagrams.

Will research all the same - nice one.

They're great things giving some knee room . Have you seen the steering wheels they put in Peugeots ? Can't say I have Order a new style gear knob too I'll post the part number once it arrives - keeping with the OEM plus theme.

Thanks Bobby - will certaibly check that out. Although I'd hope/expect the mechs to have dismissed that as a cause through their inspection.

Well spotted. I've ordered the part via Audi, £261. Had it confirmed by them. Can't wait to have it fitted and resolve the issue.

Its a balancer

Hey Bobby,

i've picked up the part from Audi, images below. Any idea how this fits to the gearbox and propshaft? The part is splined at both ends and on the gearbox side there is a sharp narrow groove, perhaps for a retaining clip? Also not sure how the fitted one would be removed.

Im assuming its like a drive shaft CV and needs a hammer
Let the garage do it if you are unsure.
