Hi guys thinking of buying a s5 convertible spoke to the bloke selling it say it has a misfire but has changed the coil packs and spark plugs he says it a common fault on them and all that's left to do is the injectors does this sound about right

I wouldn't take his word at all, it could spiral into huge costs & he's probably selling as he already knows the issue & associated costs.

After a quick google search it would appear the injector failure is common on these cars, and if one injector is failing the rest won't be far behind. I would not walk away from the car I would run away!

Is this the B8 platform? If so then I cannot agree that spark plug, coil-pack or injector failure is any more common than on any of the other Audi platforms. Whilst it is possible that the issue is with an injector, it could be something more serious including an intercooler leak. Injectors are not so hard to replace that the seller has an excuse for not fixing it before sale. I also would advise not buying in its present state. If the seller agrees to have the injector replaced first then maybe you could consider it but you'd be wise to obtain proof (in the form of diagnostic logs) that it fixed the issue.

Too true! always amazes me when people try and and sell a car with a problem and then state in the ad that "it's an easy fix, you can get the part off ebay for £20" :tearsofjoy:
