Had a search to see if anyone else has this but all seem to be relating to the engine, this noise seems to be coming from behind the dash or interior for sure but no idea what it is.

Has anyone else heard or have something similar? any one know if it can be removed or what it's caused by

Heater fan?

More info would be useful.
Does it change pitch etc when you do ......

it's really random, just driving along cruise on and it will come on for 10-15seconds then go off. then a minutue or so does the same again. sounds a bit like when something powers on when you would turn the car on but it's constantly off and on. will do it when the car is just sitting also, in park too i beleive.

I'm having the same problem but mine seems to be coming from the floor area behind the drivers arm rest

Could it be that thing since it's not connected? I'm not 100% sure where the noise is coming from but it's definitely noticeable but don't think i could record it. Doesn't help the radio keeps self adjusting and making my music higher and lower, looking to un plug the mic soon see if that stops the radio going up and down in volume

I've found the source of the noise in mine. Its coming from the front passenger speaker. Now to find out how to get rid of it!

Oh yea? i know that the window switches can be a common fault on the s3's due to water getting into door trim so might be water gotten into the speakers maybe?

But thanks I will need to check mine, I tried fading all the left side and then all right but both speakers sounded ok, should of tried all rear and all front also

The best way to find out if it is your speakers is turn off the stereo and put your ear right to the speaker. You'll hear a bit of static and the intermittent beeping.
