Hold Assist Retrofit.

@MarttiMat I've found a post which might help you click me for the mk PFL ABS module, these security codes might/might not be relevant for the mk3 FL.

A couple of other interesting and useful threads over on the Ross-Tech forum relating to 03 - ABS module security access here and general MQB platform security codes for various modules here.

As stated in the Ross-Tech threads be careful not to lockout the module or it won't access any further security codes for 10 minutes. To quote Uwe word for word; In this module one should also be able to check the Measuring Value named "Security Access: Number of invalid keys". As a general rule, if this reaches 3, the module will no longer accept any attempts until it times out (with ignition on) and reverts to 0.[/}

Thanks @Harvey . I did some searching over at Ross Tech and ended up making a post for help. I tried all their posted SA codes. I think it will just be some trial and error finding the right code for the 8V0 variant. I will do some more digging! Cheers.

Thank you @Harvey for the additional SA code links! I was able to get security access to change the remaining adaptation channel as well as perform the coding changes. I ended up using a TTRs SA code.

For any future searchers, note that the listed security access codes in the standard instructions do not apply to the 8V0 ABS / ESC control module variants (S3 and RS3 with ACC). See the adaptation and coding process below for my NA spec S3:

2017 S3 with ACC, VC and DSG (NA market)
Auto Hold retrofit with switch installed
ABS: 8V0-614-517 C
Old Coding: 31AA6B7D549E13B189990B654197698CD62AC891D0829676184150D482A812

Here are the steps taken:

Select control unit address 03- ABS
Enter security access authorization / login code 20103
Select adaptation: Set the "Auto HOLD function status" or "Auto HOLD functional status" to "Always active" Save.
Leave control unit.

Hi,
I would like to install the Autohold system without the button, because I want to have it always on.
Car: A3 2017, diesel, auto-trans
ABS: 5Q0 614 517 AR
Current coding:
12F162A224260A73897D0E0440CB2548462450917002A472024100748208420000000012121212B835351919323200

Byte 8 = 89 (10001001)
Byte 19 = 91 (10010001)
Byte 23 = 72 (01110010)

Should I add it?
Byte 08 - Bit 1
Byte 19 - Bit 6
Byte 23 - Bit 0

Byte 8 = 8B (10001011)
Byte 19 = D1 (11010001)
Byte 23 = 73 (01110011)

Are these bits correct?

Is wiring required at all?
The diagram shows that it is only needed to turn the system on and off. In the case of permanently on, it is probably not needed

Today I tried to coding ABS and everything was positive.
Only the error:
4410 - Indicator Lamp in Auto-Hold Switch
C1156 14 [009] - Open or Short to Ground

So the above coding enables auto hold without the switch? :yahoo:

The coding is ok, but error won't turn the system on.
It is possible that it is enough to add led.

From the looks of it, the ABS module is looking for the switch with your current coding and adaptations. In re-reading this thread, I have noticed those without the switch also changing this adaption channel:

"Auto hold monitoring the light in the switch" - Change value from "7" to "0"

Try adjusting to "0" and see if that solves your fault.

I tried to change it and it's the same.

I also set other values: 0, 1, 2 etc. to 7 and the same error.

Hmm, then I am uncertain which value needs to be adjusted so the module does not look for the switch. Apologies I could not be of more help.

Hi guys ,

This i can confirm, by disabling the monitoring the fault does not come back and you have auto-hold always available. You can use your seatbelt as an on/off switch , in case of carwash or something

One disclaimer, rumour says without switch and errors , it only works on pfl!

What's your car?
Maybe this only applies to the manual gearbox and before the lift?
The switch cannot be turned off in the automatic transmission and in the 2017 model

Sorry its in dutch

Aanpassingen = adaptions
Oude waarde = old value
Nieuwe waarde = new value
Controle functie lampje = check for function light
Zekering = fuse

Cant remember whats with that autohold safeguard.

My adaptations
In my opinion, led is required in the lift model.
I will try to connect this wiring diagram

If you have OBDEleven, you retrofit by just clicking the box. Done in seconds! No messing around with long coding etc.

Hi All, I'm just about to purchase a 2019 FL S3. It has the (A) button next to the park brake - does that mean it has Hill Hold Assist? I thought it was an option?

Many thanks!

I know it was an option when I bought mine, and in true Audi fashion I’m sure it still is, albeit £75 if still the same - £75 well spent too!
As above, if it had the button you’ll have it

Excellent, thank you. I am purchasing from the original buyer, and he did not select it as an option, so perhaps standard on the 2019 models?

Can anyone confirm the final access codes, coding and adaptations for A3 8v Saloon FL?

I tried this method which is shown everywhere for this car model:
Byte 08 - Bit 1
Byte 19 - Bit 6
Byte 23 - Bit 0

My car is Audi A3 2017 FL sportback with Manual gearbox. It will not even accept changes to Byte 08 and Byte 19, and when I change Byte 23 - Bit 0, immediately error "parking brake fault" pops up on the dashboard. And when I start the car, message "Auto Hold is not available" is shown. So, I guess, this Byte 23 is correct Byte for this, but maybe additional coding is needed. This is tried without retrofitting Auto Hold button, only coding with VCDS.

So, I don't know if this is not working because it is FL model, or because of the Manual gearbox, but it does not work.

If someone with Auto Hold function installed has coding for ABS Brakes modul (FL model with Manual gearbox), it would be good to post it, to compare with my code which is without the function.

I don't need actually this auto hold function, I was interested only in finding coding to enable Parking Brake to activate automatically when I turn of the engine and disengage seat belt. But that search led me to auto hold function, and I am not sure this coding for automatic parking brake can be done at all?

I have been trying to "retrofit" auto-hold to my 2018 S3 cabriolet but without the switch. The following coding from @MarttiMat worked, however I am left with the dreaded "parking error, auto hold not available" error.

@danieols77 did you manage to get it working? Anyone had any luck enabling this on facelift models without adding the switch?

Did anyone done the actual auto hold coding for the FL cars with or without the button? So it can confirm that it is actually 100% working.

It depends on your ABS. I have Audi A3 2017 Sportback e-tron and it has 5Q0614517AH. Long coding will be the next for this unit:
Code:
Byte 8 → Bit 1 Autohold indicator in cluster
Byte 19 → mirrored to byte 8
Byte 23 → Bit 0 Autohold enabled
Byte 28 → Bit 2 Autohold turn on message
Here is my retrofit https://chefranov.name/audi-a3-etron/auto-hold-retrofit/

Hi all, I have been trying the coding for my 2017 Audi a3 without the button, I do the 3 coding steps and the 3 (including change 7 to 0) adaptions but then I get the auto hold unavailable error and then this fault code 4410 - indicator lamp in auto-hold switch c1156 14 [009] - open or short to ground confirmed - tested since memory clear. Any ideas?

Hello,
Thank you for your tutorial.

I'm looking at the harnesses on Aliexpress and there's always this little connector, I don't understand what to plug into it.
