Hi all

Looking to use the home 3 pin charger at night at home but looking for a better solution then running a cable through a letter box. Don't really want to be dragging the whole cable /charger in and out of the house or car as that will be a chore and if wet make a right mess.

Can anyone share there setup for home charging including any pictures of how they keep there charger outside?

Was looking for the Audi official box/housing but seams very expensive, other option could be an outdoor socket and then some kind of box to hide the charger unit so its not stolen.

Please to just keep the type2-type2 cable in the boot for out and about.

Either get an external 16a ceeform instaled with an RCD or I have a pod point installed I believe there are still discounts available

Can have one with a captive lead and they have an app so you can see your usage and costs .

If I get a 16amp ceeform, will this charge the car any quicker? or would this just be the same as one of these all that be 13amp?

If I got a pod point installed, what kw should I go for?

The car can only charge at a max 3.7 kw or 15.4 amps @240v . The advantage of a 7kW charger is that it will be future proof a bit but remember most EVs use DC charging at much faster rates of 10s of kw .

The A3 e-tron battery is only 8.8 kWh of which only 7 kWh is useable so with a maxed out charger you a still looking at a couple of hours to a full charge

A 16a ceeform is just a sensible socket to have externally for long term use .
