Yeah we did recently tbh, I fancy a Tiguan but the new orders are taking forever, this want's for nothing, so I'll keep this till the new cars situation is sorted

what miles you currently at?

I think it's around 230k miles, if I am not mistaken. Currently I average 250-ish miles on it a week, so if not too much changes, I'm still about 5.5 years away from reaching that goal. Just something to look forward to down the line. Funny how under 100k miles I want to keep a car that way for as long as possible, but over 100k miles the odometer just becomes a scoreboard, and I'm looking to post the highest score I can manage :racer:

Cool! What model engine?

Bought her new in June 2006. Still have her, still love her. Around 214K km in those almost 16 years.

I bought my S3 in March 2007. It’s not a daily driver though and I’m a bit embarrased to say it has not even covered 5k miles yet!

I’ve had mine since October 2009 so 13 years this year I got it on 89,000 and now it’s at 204,000. I think the only thing that’s the same is the actual dashboard and handbrake lever lol. I’ve rebuild most of it a few times and it’s probably cost me 3 times as much as I paid for it but I love it. Went through yet another mot the other day and only a small advisory on a rusted coil spring. Too be fair after I get over covid the whole lots coming out anyway as I’m fitting oem magride to it.

I still remember when I bought it I didn’t drive it I just went straight into the sales office at work (vw garage at the time) and just bought it.

Definitely changed over the years:

Assuming it’s OEM pAint, Not seen one in that colour before. Don’t think that was available in uk.

Hi enc,

The colour is called Dakar Beige.

Actually, I saw one in London in August 2013:

Quite a transformation! Do you have a picture thread?

Just over 7-years - 65,000 miles when I bought it. Now on 112,000 miles. I do a lot of work on it myself. Oil changed once a year, changed the gearbox oil at 100,000. When warmed up 50 mpg on A roads and 60+ mpg on a motorway run. Very reliable and burns no oil between services. I could afford to change but I've grown fond of the car and it suits my daily needs for now, in retirement.

Similar story to mine. Changing the gearbox oil is something I’ve been thinking about. easy enough to do?

11 years this December, bought with roughly 20k miles, now 307k miles :)

It is. You need to raise the car and have it more or less level - I used wheel ramps on the front with the car facing down a slight downward slope. From memory the filler and drain plugs were an internal hex around 10mm? I did a lot of checking to ensure the right oil and used Titan Sintofluid FE SAE 75W for my particular 6-speed manual. It takes 2.3 litres. Purchased from Opie Oils - around £12 per litre at the time. I borrowed a large 0.5 litre syringe with flexi pipe to get the oil into the filler hole. The oil that came out was quite dark (see piccy), the gear change is much the same but it can't do any harm to change.

The day she left us, I loved that car A3 quattro sport, we had her 6 years and she never missed a beat, I still know where she is now at 12 years old - still brilliant!! all good things must come to an end as the picture title hints I would have liked to have kept her and had 'His and Her A3's'
