So... Me in a rush + new A3 + high granite curbs = pain and misery.

Any ideas of what I should do here? I read some other threads on this site which mentions that Audi can re-furb an alloy for about £100 incl VAT?

Also - are the S-Line standard alloys diamond-cut or not? I heard that also affects if a 3rd party company can fix them or not.

Email the photo to The Wheel Specialist (your local one, check the website), they should give you an idea what they can do and how much it costs. The one in Nottingham was excellent and completely reworked and resprayed a titanium finish alloy on my 8P Black edition. If you didn't know you wouldn't have been able to tell, superb service for about £80-£90 i think.

Thanks I'll check them out. Looks like there is one in St Albans/Watford.

I was met with a farm vehicle coming at me in the middle of the road on a blind corner, which incidentally is just about the only corner down those lanes with a kerb and a stupidly square edge one at that. I was mortified but absolutely amazed at what those guys could do to perform a miracle repair at a fraction of the cost of a new wheel.

That's what I needed to hear! These are certainly not titanium alloys either so I can't imagine it'll be a problem for them to fix it. The damage is fairly superficial, rather than chipped/cracked alloys.

Not sure if I should be worried about "white worm"? It's raining here at the moment...

Don't panic! Just let them see, get a quote, then hopefully it'll soon be resolved at a reasonable fee and you won't have a lasting reminder every time you look at the car!

You cant do a repair on this as its diamond cut, the wheel will have to be completely redone, usual cost is 100 - 150 and most companies can do this,

Thta's such a PITA...

I was using the iPad in my garage while doing some work on the car - desperate once complete to go out for a drive (and in a rush) I knocked the iPad onto the garage floor... SMASH!

Dammit!

Ouch. I be lost without my ipad. :) x

The S-Line wheels are diamond cut and cannot be repaired by 75% of 'wheel restoration specialists' This means it's quite a bit more expensive and you may well be £100+ for a diamond cut specialist to sort out

What you may want to do however, is change the colour of all 4 wheels and get them sprayed / powder coated? Anthracite or Titanium coloured wheels look nice on a white car.

Of course you would lose the diamond cut effect from the standard S-Line wheel but it would probably work out at £50-£60 a wheel for a spray powder/coat and should you kerb any in future, it's £50-60 to sort rather than £100+

I just picked up an A3 a couple of weeks ago and a couple of days later my missus had managed to kerb 2 of them in a multi storey car park. Long story short, I had the same dilemma as you, pay the big bucks to get them repaired by a diamond cut wheel specialist or get them fixed and coated in a nicer colour. (In my opinion)

£200 for the 4 in the colour below...

Leo - got any pics of the wheels on the car ?

Hmmm - interesting options.

@ A3Kent - I might take you up on that depending on what I can find in terms of repairs etc.

Are these wheels actually diamond cut? i have the same wheels and they appear fully painted, even on the flat lathed sections. By contrast my other car has diamond cut wheels and there is a definate laquered alloy section without paint which is what i would expect.

Better off getting them powder coated than getting them re-cut. Cheaper, vast choice of colours (TWS Chrome by the wheel specialist is close to the diamond cut look), also easier to look after and clean. Shop around though, the wheel specialist can be expensive.
