I got my A3 - few questions though!?

Took delivery of my A3 Edition 1 35 S-tronic TFSI and loving it!

Managed to finally get it working on my Audi app (tip change the pin in the app and it starts working).

Anyone know why can't lock / unlock the vehicle or set climate to warm up the car like you can on other Audi's ?

I might be wrong, but I don’t believe either of those features are available on the 8V A3 in the UK so they might not be available on the 8Y. I’m making the assumption here that you mean via the app.

I have the same car as yourself (received last week!), and I'm also struggling with My Audi.. the app seems connected as I can view fuel levels etc but it still shows connection error messages. I also can't do the things you describe, and I also can't work out how to activate things like 'Online Radio'..

Do Audi not have similar people in the dealerships to BMW, they are experts on all these types of features and are specifically there to help owners setup them up.

My TCR has a lot of these features, and on collection day the VW specialist went through and setup all the features and then explained them. I would expect Audi to do the same, no point having these features if they don’t work, or owners can’t set them up.

You'd like to think so - Difficult at present but they could talk you through it at a distance

I do think that some of the features you are talking about, may not be available yet, but the car has the capabilities - There was talk of an update at the end of October but that may have been delayed because of lockdown!!

Have you done a search on YouTube? More often than not there is a video there posted by Audi themselves or an owner walking you through setting these kinds of things up, I have found a lot of useful tutorials there.

Do you get a ‘Link vehicle’ message in the app saying that the infotainment services are not yet linked? As far as I am aware I am fully set up in the car and the app so unsure why I am seeing this.

There’s a tab on the app called Functions on Demand / Go to Shop but there are no options available in there yet. Again, maybe a future option.

The ability to start the car remotely through the phone app really appeals to me. Jaguar do this on the F-Pace (and probably other models too) and it's one of the handiest things ever in Winter or the height of Summer to make sure the climate is spot on in the car for you getting into it.

Me too. I remember a guy at work telling me how his car (can’t remember what car) could start remotely years ago so it’s not like it’s something new.

the functions on demand are for the etrons at present - they have for example Matrix Headlights fitted but not specced - for a payment you can activate them for a trial period and if you like it then pay to upgrade

locking/unlocking etc I think is to come

Hey guys noticed you guys had the edition 1 stronic 35tfsi.

Did yours come with electric seats? Watch this video it should have and I'm trying to get Audi to publicly acknowledge it. Since I've been blogging about it the 35tfso has disappeared from the configurator.

Hope this helps guys, I registered to help spread the word to make sure we get what we paid for. If you hear we were not supposed to have this due to mhev as I was initially told. This is wrong.

Every edition 1 should have come with the seats. I'm trying to get them to tell us how they will fix it;

Same here. I have new A3 and get connection error messages on the My Audi app. Also told me the car and boot was unlocked....I checked and it wasn't.

This fixed it, thank you. Although I do not have any additional options so not quite sure what there was to link!

Yeah, I know, only thing you can do at the moment is seeing the info and the location on a map.

Though as a key user the MMI Says (on startup) X User has remote access rights. Suggesting we should be able to unlock/lock the car with the mobile phone be it through remote key

So long as your MMI is setup with the correct email and password of the myAudi account and you can see the basic details via the app but you have a message near the top saying it's not linked properly then the resolve for me was to go into the app then the settings/profile and change the pin a couple of times. When I got in the car later to go for a drive it started all working and linked up.

Nothing in the app and the section on the MMI in the car is missing. My dealer is adamant that this should be on my car, especially as it’s one of the features that helped convince me to get the car.

I have the same issue as you. Now things got worse and I can't even log into the app from my phone

I had the same issue initially. To check that it was working I set a destination in the app and sent it to the car. The car received it, so the app and comms are working. Then miraculously the message on the app disappeared and it has been working fine since.

You can’t lock/unlock the car from the app or start the climate to warm it from the app. Seems like an oversight to me. I guess this will be a paid for feature in the future.

Someone on here has got the lock/unlock feature - It takes 40-60 seconds to work but handy if you've forgotten to lock the car or you want to unlock it for someone

I've spoken to my dealer and they are looking into it - Audi Digital Services said it wasn't booked as part of the manufacturing process but that doesn't sound right as all cars would have it, it must be a software thing
