So Ive had an occasional immobilizer fail
( light flashes car starts but wont run)
I'm guessing its a problem with the rfid reader.
..Dodgy wiring?..
Its random ( about 6 months since it last failed)

So whats the best way to fix this?

Rfid reader is known to have a problem with the length of the wire (too short) causing it to begin failing over time you can make up a new one or there is an updated version available

Are any scan codes available for a more definitive answer?

ok so here were are 3 months later I replaced the wires as per mph suggestion
was ok for a while now its just the immobilize light flashing all the time

wondering what i should check next?

obs eleven wont connect to ecm
checking dash and immobilizer shows no faults ( i think its not connecting)

what should i check next? thanks

Ok
So after triple checking I found you actually have to push the connector all the way into the ignition barrel(doh)
I now have continuity between the green and black wires at the green connector.
A clear and rescan shows no errors however It seems the scanner is only connecting to the brakes and airbag control units
Only other odd thing is when obd eleven connects it says battery at 11.5-12 volts but checking battery directly shows 13.5 v
battery to engine/body also shows 13.5 So im thinking earths are ok

So for those reading at home.
I sent the dash, ecu and immobilizer to get checked and apparently the dash is ******** and cant be fixed. Ive asked for a written report so i know exactly whats wrong .Hopefully I get this next week.

In the mean time Ive been looking for options to fix this.
So
1/
If I just get a second hand dash
I need to get the pin and skc from the old dash and I should be right?
Are there different part numbers on the dash? do they need to match? Its a vdo dash if that matters.
I not sure I'm going to be able to read the dash because of the fault.
2/
Buy dash ecu immobilizer & keys as a group.
If the ecu is from a different engine (mines agu) can i just use my ecu with coding?

3/
Find whats wrong with original dash and maybe take a chip/circuit board from a replacement dash.

I have OBDeleven.
Will i be able to use this or do I need to invest in VCDS?(or some other software?)

4/ Try to find someone who can do an immo defeat. If so are there any downsides to this (besides getting stolen)

I live in a rural area so nearest Audi dealer is 3.5 hours away. So thats not reallly an option
p.s im Australian If any aussies could help that would be great
