Hello Everyone,

Im looking at a Q5 of around 2011-2013 plate and I was hoping to ask if there is anything I should be looking for (both positive and negative) before going to look at one. I had a 2.0TDI A3 before and know of the 140 vs 170 bhp issues if they are a thing in the Q5 too?

I know there was the facelift but there seems very little other than the lights that really changed much there, is there anything significant?

Finally is mileage a big concern? It will be a daily family car so mileage im looking for something less than 70k at the moment.

Thanks very much :)

If you went auto like me, get some history on the gearbox. My gearbox on my 2010 was serviced by Audi 2 years ago but now I have a "once a month" gearbox malfunction error at 112k.

You are going for a later model may be okay as mine is 1st generation.

Well... we ended up with a lovely 2009 plate s-line 2.0tdi 170 s-tronic. It’s in fantastic condition and has only 50k on the clock, however we ran into gearbox trouble almost immediately! Looking on the web it I got the feeling it’s mechatronic related, but Audi have said the oil cooler has leaked water into the gearbox. Thus far the Citroen dealership we bought it from have been spot on and have given the green light on a £3000 repair but no work on the mech unit from what we understand. It’s getting the work done at the moment so will just let to see how it is when we get it back

Good luck with this and I hope she is back safe ?
Mine had liquid spilt on the centre console when I got it took ages to clean it up. I ran into my gearbox DING error around 1 month after driving. It then drove fine (still does) and used a lot up and down the country with no repeat until a month later, then another month, and then the last time it came on again and had a bit of throttle trouble. Hasn't come back since, but had a vcds scan and it read that the rpm sensor implausible signal has happened 14 times (I have counted 4/5) since I have had it, so the previous owner most likely knew about my issue.

I was hopelessly hanging on to the fact that Maccy D's milkshake on the console was the cause... haha no chance!
Spoke to Audi and I wasn't impressed with their "knowledge" of the issue. So I have mine booked in at a specialist to have the revision f solenoid repair, and getting new oil and kit installed as well.
Fingers crossed for us both mate, I do like the Q5
