Is Audi no longer dropping Google maps?

I’ve read on this forum and various others about people being disappointed to discover that Audi plans to stop supporting the google maps overlay on their cars after this year (or next. Can’t quite remember). Gebrr ere al consensus was this was to do with their joint purchase of Here maps from Nokia along with other car manufacturers.

Ive just discovered that latest software update to the myAudi app has actually ditched Here in favour of Google and in their own words “will result in routes being calculated significantly more quickly”.

Does this suggest a U-Turn on dropping Google?

My app (Android v3.15.2) is still using Here maps - this is easily checked as they have the street name for my house wrong while google has the correct one.

I would be nice if the feature was retained as I wasn't looking forward to reverting to the 'vanilla' maps at the end of the year.
