Hey guys,

Id like to ask a question to see if this is normal or what...

I have an A3 1.8T and when im hitting the turbo (or accelerating above 60 roughly)

There is a hiss sound, like a whistle? Or imagine a snake going Tsssssssss LOL

Is that a normal sound, or is there an issue somewhere?

Cheers guys

Could be an air leak somewhere... Do you get any loss of performance? Any faults light up on the dash?

Also have you had the car chipped/mapped... Could be running higher boost pressure (which would explain the hiss)

Ive had a light come on the dash and had it scanned, they are looking the DV valve?

Car does seem to judder/not very smooth/bolt forward irratically at time...

Could be the issue then, if you've had it scanned and that's what it's saying then I would go with that. Was going to also suggest N75 (think that's the boost control valve???) valve too but get the DV sorted first :)

if the dv is knackered it one wouldnt be able to hold the boost so it keeps opening up on high boost. When u lift u foot off the throttle does it chatter? tss tss tss (really quickly)

sounds silly, but its not just the turbo spoolinging up. that makes a tttssssss sound. describing sounds on the internet is impossible!!

do you have standard air filter also. just fitted a cone filter and all noises are much louder!

DV is easy to test. remove it suck and blow on the little nipple (stop it!) and if it passes air in both directions its dead.
