Long story short, my eldest child's car seat has been rear facing for about a year and he is now of the age/weight where we can flip it round and forward face.

Rear facing it doesn't have isofix so we have been using the seat belt to mount it but forward facing it does have isofix.

I hadn't put much thought into the isofix till today since we couldn't use it, but as the seat doesn't have the leg down into the foot well it has a third tether which is meant to attach to an achor in the boot or back of the seat. Except my 2014 C7 Avant doesn't have one! Even the 2013 Fiesta we own as a second car has them in the back of the rear seats!

Am I being stupid and not able to find it or is there not one on this generation of A6?

You get alot as standard in ford not in vag cars unfortunately. You will probably have to put it to one of the points in the boot floor. If the seat has isofix that alone should be enough. If your wanting the seat base with the leg that goes into footwell buy a cheap second hand one and send it back to the manufacturer for a service thats what i done and cost me £60 in total and i got a new warranty with it

Only the a6 facelift got the upper tether point. I had similar issue when I had a 2013 then got a facelift( well 2) after that.
check with the seat manufacturer. If I remember right on some child seats the upper tether point was optional and not a requirement as long as the bottom isofix points were secured.
oh get a mat under the seat as the way the isofix goes in and how tight it’s against the seat it will mark and crease the leather/fabric.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I have emailed Joie as their own website states our seat is fully isofix compatible with my A6 so awaiting their nod on the two main fixing points without the third mount. I can also forward face mount the seat with the seat belt so may throw that on as well as an extra in place of the third mount/belt.

If all else fails this seat will live in the Fiesta and we'll buy another one for the A6

Hi, did you ever get an answer on this from Joie? I am in a similar position with my A4 Avant that doesn't have the third top tether anchor point. Thanks in advance!

I did. They said its not to be used on isofix main anchors without the Third Anchor also being used. It's only to be used with the seat belt mounting method instead when forward facing.

Having looked at it though I think I may go with the two main anchors, the seat belt through as well as that provides the upper restraint.

Thanks, I think I'm going to have to do the same, as i asked a specialist the same thing but they just said its a good question that nobody has answered yet... This was also asked for the CozyNSafe Excalibur seat that is similar to the Joie Bold.
